The staff at Watson Gallery were very helpful when it came time to find a piece of artwork for our new home. We needed a very important statement piece for over the mantel. The Watson's visited our home, snapped a few digital photos of the space and came back out with several works to choose from. All this with no charge and no obligation to purcahse. Very friendly and understanding and willing to work within our budget. Once we decided on the perfect piece for our Living room we went down to the gallery for framing. The staff assisted us in every aspect of the framing process, answering any questions we had and offered many design possibilites. Pricing was great and all work comes with a lifetime guarantee. Simply put - They know what their doing and they stand behind it 100%. Oh, and what a bueatiful gallery, truly one of the best I've ever been in. Hundreds of original works framed and on display. From classic to contemporary this gallery has it all. I have and will continue to refer all my family and friends to check out this great gallery. The custom framing and artwork selection is unbeatable! Just check out their website!!
First the good: Jill is knowledgable, experienced and focused. Your project will get done, and, esp. with web developers, getting the site launched is the holy grail. She's up to date on best practices and current trends and has an excellent work ethic. Now the bad: Jill's not a great communicator--she's very sparing with her words, does not give input or feedback, and comes across as cold and disinterested. She puts a lot of restrictions on how and when she communicates, which makes you feel like dealing with clients is a chore or a necessary evil. It's like she's already fed up with your project before you even get started. As a designer, I've collaborated with many developers over the years, and she has been consistently the hardest to communicate with of any developer I've worked with. On the phone or via email, she says as little as humanly possible, and this approach is just unwelcoming. I had to ask the same questions over and over to get an answer and it's very frustrating to not feel that you're not being heard, or that your project is not important.
I visited on a Sunday where the restaurant promotes their Sunday Dinner. It features 3 courses for $25 pp with a 4-person minimum. It is a great deal for all that you get. We enjoyed for the starter the pimento cheese with house made crackers and the most delicious fried green tomatoes. It can be difficult to fry them without the batter falling off but these were perfect. The entree we enjoyed the grilled salmon and the fried chicken. Both were great and the fried chicken tastes like grandma made it. The sides included collard greens and the creamiest mac and cheese Ive had in a long time. To end the night, we indulged in the chocolate cake and coconut cake. Our server Sokat was knowledgeable and friendly and made sure that we had everything that we needed. The ambiance could be considered upscale with lots of art. Be sure to look up at the ceiling and admire all of the art work that is hanging from above.
Perfect for any type of gathering (date night, girls night or day out, meet and greet, company function, etc). Our instructor was professional, very enthusiastic, funny, calm and collected yet knew how to try and tame down some of the rowdier people. There is a decent sized kitchen (no fridge) where you can bring food, wines, cooler, and spirits with a window cut out to the painting room. The main painting room could hold at least 60 people. Opposite to where the open air painting room, there is also a separate glassed enclosed room for more private parties. The painting event normally lasts 1-2 hours. There is plenty of paint, aprons, and brushes to use. This a must for anyone that just wants to have fun, paint, and socialize.
Adding alcohol to just about any activity is a fabulous time for me. Sipping on vino while I pretend to be an artist was bound to be a great time, and it was at Sips & Strokes. Sure, I messed up my painting more than once...but I had a good buzz so that eased my embarrassment. This is the perfect meet up for your squad or just you and your bae for a date. It's BYOB (bring your own booze) and bring something to eat as well if you'd like--snacks and finger foods are best since your hands will be busy. The staff will lead you as you create your masterpiece. They'll also help if you make a mistake or ten. Fun times!
I had seen a picture that I liked, and the gallery held it for me. When I went back to look at the picture, I wasn't totally sure I wanted it. Plus, it was large, and I didn't know if it would fit into my car. The man who was working there ( I think he's Roger) helped me get it into the car, and after we made the tight fit, I decided I did not want the picture. Roger was so very, very nice and patient. He took the picture back out and treated me so well - even though I had just wasted his time and made no purchase. The gallery has great items and a wonderful staff.
Every Sunday, from 1-4pm, the Woodruff Arts Center offers free family programming as part of their CREATE series. It involves activities with the theaters at the Woodruff Arts Center and the High Museum. My family and I have attended several this year and they’re always a lot of fun. It’s a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon-theater, music, and art-all geared for kids. So far we’ve seen a kid-friendly version of the opera Pirates of Penzance and an interactive Eric Carle storytelling experience in addition to making lots of fun art projects. My kids love it!
I never thought I could paint anything and Sip and Strokes proved me wrong! I had a chance to paint the Eiffel Tower with a wonderful group of women while sipping on wine and munching on small bites. Give yourself at least a few hours for this class as we were there for about 3. Don't come in your best clothes because you don't want to get the paint on it. Instead come dressed casually. This is a great idea for a birthday, girls night out or really any occasion where you want to do something out of the ordinary.
Perfect date night or night out with the girls. Grab your favorite beverage, alcoholic or non alcoholic, some appetizers and your paint brush. The instructors are great and make the atmosphere fun. Doesn't matter if you're Van Gogh or not, the idea is to have fun. The studio provides everything you need, including paint brushes and canvas. There are even blow dryers to dry your masterpiece if you are little heavy handed with the paint!
Wow! This restaurant has such a vintage, unique and warm atmosphere. The service is great! Our waitress, Meka, was amazing and could describe any and everything on the menu. The food... My husband and I split something called the Breed Love Delight. OMG! It was made up of some of the best shrimp over rice, rib eye steak, snapper, and chicken over pasta and vegetables. It was ABSOLUTELY delicious and I will definitely be back.
