From day one they lied, deceived, and didn't communicate with us. Literally the most unprofessional group of people in the entire world. Would NOT recommend.
DO NOT rent from Joiner Associates. Above all, they did not follow state law concerning walk-through inspections or return of security deposit within 30 days. They tried to nickel and dime me by taking $50 out of my security deposit on two separate instances for not "taking a wet cloth" to a screen porch floor and then for repairing a screen on the porch which had already been repaired. The first instance was outside the parameters of the lease and the second outside state law since it was more than a month after the move-out inspection. On more of a personal level, they treated me with no respect or privacy. They would show up at my house unannounced. They dined across the street with my neighbors and then emailed to comment on my xmas tree. They sent emails demanding that I share my Pandora station. In the middle of my lease they removed premium cable stations without advising me. They emailed after move-out asking for my forwarding address although I had given it to them prior and referred to my new residence as "wherever it is" suggesting that because I no longer lived in their house that my new residence was of no importance. These people are pretentious, rude and greedy.
THEY ARE TERRIBLE. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT RENT WITH THEM. I WISH I COULD GIVE THEM ZERO STARS.let me put it simply: they do not care about you, they care about money. save yourself from problems and don't rent with them.
•Overcharged for move-out inspection. •From July 20 to August 1, our electricity bill was over $100, the highest electricity bill we’ve ever had in that apartment. We moved out the 24th. •Apartment never received the promised renovation. •Tour guide during one of the MANY showings of our apartment left our front door open. Completely open for the 3+ hours I was in class. Not ajar. I called the office and no one seemed to care.•There was so much dog poop around the apartments it caked up around the door frames and rolled around on the sidewalks. •“Renovation" crew left their equipment in our home for months. •Did the pool even open this summer? We received an email stating that the pool wasn’t “ready” at the beginning of summer, but nothing else. •Roommate had two major knee surgeries requiring ice - ARG refused to fix our freezer after two work orders (8/28 and 9/5). It took a pissy phone call to get anyone to show up. •ARG wouldn’t replace any screens on the apartment despite not providing ceiling fans as in the newer, updated apartment we toured. Our dishwasher wasn't harnessed into the wall. Whole thing pulled on out when opened. •ARG did not have any of the pictures from their pre-move in inspection on file because the employee who did the move-in didn’t work there anymore.•There were several occasions ARG showed up or entered the house with no phone call, email, or communication whatsoever between me or my roommate. I walked downstairs topless to see a stranger (repair man) standing in the kitchen. Called ARG for an explanation and told "it would be fixed." They showed up again the next day and AGAIN entered without communication. We didn’t punch holes in walls or tear up the floors. We were never late for a payment. There are hidden move-out fees. There is no communication. There is no responsibility. Go anywhere else and save your money and privacy.
Writing this review from an owner's perspective who used this company to manage my property for several years. When I first started with the company, Hank was in charge. I have had issues ever since the new manager took over. I had to have several conversations over many months to find out why I was getting charged every single month for landscaping when there should be no need to mow my property in the winter months. I then had to explain how the bill should clearly state what is being done for the $100 each month; I wanted a more detailed accounting for how my money was being spent. Then during turn of the property for a new tenant they spent $600 to 'paint' without first getting my approval. It clearly stated in the contract that they need owner approval to spend more than $300. The excuse was that they didn't have enough staff to make phone calls because they were too busy during that time to let the owner know beforehand. In addition, I was charged for 'cleaning', removing items from the ceiling and filling holes which should have been the onus of the tenant to do prior to leaving the property. This all came to a head when the AC went out last month. This company does not know how to deal with a home warranty. I was informed on a Saturday that the AC was out so I contacted the home warranty company then let Joiner know that the AC repair company would contact them to schedule an appointment. I asked for a call back on Monday and I was told no one was in the office on the weekends and no one would be back in the office until Wednesday because of the July 4th holiday. I told them I hoped the tenant was alright with waiting that long but that was unacceptable. I was then told later by the tenant that they threw me under the bus by stating I was the reason they had to wait until Wednesday. Poor communication from the management company not to mention unprofessional to put the blame on the owner. If I was to coordinate with the tenant, I should have had the tenants contact information and then why would I need to pay Joiner?! Due to the additional time without AC I had to offer concessions to the tenant which meant that I wouldn't have enough money to cover my mortgage again. Then, Joiner tells me he is terminating managing the property, because this is 'outside the way they normally operate'. Because they can't handle the responsibility of dealing with emergency maintenance issues, he quits. Well, I say good riddance. The tenant is also happy to not have to deal with them any more.
Don't be fooled by the cheap rent and good locations. There were so many maintenance problems with my apt(a literal hole in the wall when I moved in) and common area problems were seldom fixed (broken lamps in common hallway, huge gash in outside door). You have to fight for your own parking space on Game days, there is no mailbox for you to send out mail on site, and on top of all that, when you move out, they charge obscene amounts, such as $100 to paint over a few wall smudges and $40 to simply clean a toilet. Trust me, it's worth shelling out a few more bucks to live in a place where the landlord actually cares about your home.
Their lemon pepper wings are the best and the service is good too. The one on Broad St has nothing on the one at the mall.
My wife and I have been with Joiner and Associates since 2013, and each time we had an issue maintenance wise, all I had to do was to contact Joiner and within one to two days the issue was taken care of. Hank Joiner and the Joiner family have always been professional in every manner of the way they handle their business responsibilities. I would highly recommend the Joiner family to anyone looking for a place to call home.
This business has been closed for more than 4 years. It never did do much business to begin with, and the one time I purchased food there, it was no where what was expected.
Great and friendly service. Very accommodating and very pleasant to rent from. Excellent management and very easy going which made me feel comfortable and as if I were working with a friend rather than a businessman. I was very pleased with how responsive the management team was and I was able to resolve any issue I had in a timely manner
