I have been to housing projects that have better customer service than this place. If you're thinking of moving in, don't. Run far, far away.

I thought when I moved in here that this would be the perfect place to live while I finished my college degree, and instead it's been a nightmare. Most of the tenants are young college kids whose parents pay their rent. They are disrespectful, loud, and many of them use drugs. There was a drug-related armed robbery in one of the buildings a few weeks ago. Beer bottles get shattered on the sidewalks on a regular basis and the management takes forever to send people to clean up the messes. I have many, many pictures of the disgusting state of the grounds here. There have been smashed watermelons and pumpkins left to rot, porcelain pottery thrown from balconies, and other ridiculous things.

The office will change their hours without any personal notification. They send emails out asking to renew your lease, but they never send out emails for important information residents need. All of the bicycles and scooters people used for transportation had their locks cut by the management because of a fire hazard and they will not be reimbursing people. They also have a towing company come to tow vehicles on a regular basis, and if you don't have a sticker on your car they'll take it and force you to pay a couple hundred bucks to get it back. There isn't enough parking for residents, so be prepared to walk a ways to get to your car.

The buildings must have been constructed out of rubber bands and bubblegum, because even in my apartment on the second floor I can hear residents on the fourth floor. The walls are paper. If you aren't a sound sleeper you won't have a solid night's sleep. Ever.

The neighborhood is not very nice. Kids regularly show up to try to steal bikes. Panhandlers bother residents for money. Some people even tried to steal my dog once. It's like the wild west, but there isn't any John Wayne to keep order. They haven't been able to keep a general manager on staff for more than a few months since I moved in a year ago.

Please do yourself a favor and live somewhere else in Asheville. This place is horrible. You may think, "Eh, whatever, I can handle it." But seriously, when you're up all night because your neighbors are on drugs, blasting dubstep until 4 AM, and then you go outside and your car's been towed and the office is already closed (despite their posted hours saying they're supposed to be open) you'll wish you listened to me!

I enjoying living at the Grove...

I enjoying living at the Grove in Asheville. When I went to look at the complex the staff was very friendly and took me on a tour of the 3 bedroom and the 2 bedroom. I didn't want to be in an apartment that had a cat living there before I moved in and the property manager mad sure that I got what I wanted. I knew it was a n easy choice when I decided to move because the complex is close to my job and to downtown.

Everything has went very well since I have moved in. The people in my complex keep to their selves, and the only time it gets a little rowdy is on the weekends but that is understandable.

Anything that I have asked for from the Grove staff such as maintenance request are filled the next day, questions about my animals, events that are going on (which they go above and beyond to plan things for the tenants) and random questions.
