Every day they offer daily special that comes with one side. Today my friend & I ordered the special & after eating, waitress brings the ck. Mine is $2 more then my buddys so asked why & was told that the "Grits" is not part of sides. Well first of all there was not mention of what sides came with Special & after ordering the grits, waitress failed to mention it would be extra. Mgr comes over & says "Whats the problem" like its something we did. She made no effort at all to remendy the situation & only said thats the policy and walked off.
Fact is we work in Biltmore Park & eat there often. With that kind of attitude we are going to give them the "Word of Mouth" they would rather not have!

After reading the bad reviews, i had to write. I am a local in Arden and regularly visit Hickory Tavern. The food is just as good as any other pub establishments. One of our favorites is the Fish sandwich. If u don't like it with a bit of flare, they will cook it to your liking( less seasoning or plain). The coconut cake and steak sandwich are good also. The service is 90 percent good. You can't always expect superior service because u can't control when someone calls in or fails to show up. It is no Chris Ruth steakhouse but it is not as bad one as reviewer claims.

Hello sportsfans! If you like a place thats wall to wall TVs, then you might have a new place to call home.
If you're expecting great food...I'd stick to a liquid diet and just have beer.
I had the Black & Blue chicken sandwich.
I could not detect any cajun spices on my chicken & the blue cheese tasted like paint or some other industrial solvent. My friend had the California burger & she said it was flavorless & kinda soggy in her mouth.

My Husband & I live in Biltmore Park. We decided to experience Hickory Tavern for the first time We planned our visit for 4:00PM so it wouldn't be busy. There were only about 4 tables so we planned well. The waitress was very dry and didn't have knowledge of what was avail & failed to give any info about any specials . The food was terrible. It took 45 minutes for our meal to come out and 15 after placing our order for a small salad to arrive. My husband ordered Coconut Cake. he threw it away because it tasted like ""LARD. Someone came by & ask how was the meal. When we told her the waitress & service was horrible, the food wasn't good, & the desert was thrown away her reply was , Sorry To Hear That.. We won't go here again. A Waste of $50.00..
