not acceptable

i back in june joined this institute with the promises that i would advance at my own pace. during my time here i belt tests for the entire dojo were delayed and delayed and delayed! to be in this class you are required to buy books and rent movies, as well as pay a membership entry into the "books and movies" club! isnt the martial arts also about not trying to make money out of everything!!!! furthermore no way of advancing past just black belt, no hope of ever reaching second third or fourth dan rank, as this is not sponsored by any national orginization. many of what shidoshi will tell you i have remembered and looked up and found to be false! just made up to make his orginization look better! I much greatly reccomend Sensai Perry of hendersonville, boxing coach Chris Sawtelle of hendersonville or se.nsai Darren Norris of Etowah. these gentlemen have truely respecatable admirable talents.

I always wonder about the credibility of someone who critisizes another, but is too cowardly to attach their own name. For fourty years we have appreciated and been completely responsive to any thing a student might not find desirable for himself, and fully remedied his complaints. I would be quite certain this student never made known how he might have wished some things to be different, or the matter would have been dealt with to his satisfaction. Our study of the martial arts is unusually comprehensive and multi faceted - there is the physical, mental, and spiritual training, a DVD documentary program, a reading of suggested books (if desired- not required), a special character development program, and thorough course training manuals for every level. No other school offers all these opportunities/methods to study the martial arts in depth and thus become a true and knowledgable master. We offer personalized private instruction for less than 1/2 the going rate, and monthly tuition is less than half that of other schools. The lifetime $15 membership fee for access to the schools unique martial arts DVD library doesn't even cover the DVD documentaries which are never returned and have to be replaced. Students do advance in their private lessons as fast as they are able and steadily given new material - even if they might occasionally wait to be officially tested with the whole school. This better experience is well worth waiting a few weeks after they may have been ready. We do have a number of Black Belts continuing their training in the advanced levels we offer beyond 1st Black Belt. No one 'runs out of training'. It is not necessary to be connected to a national organization to promote to higher ranks as long as your instructor was ranked by a recognized legitimate source. I myself was taught by Grandmaster Ed Parker in 1965, promoted to Black Belt by the undefeated world contact figher Joe Lewis in 1975, and promoted to higher Black Belt ranks by Grandmaster Al Tracy, founder of the largest chain of martial arts schools in the world - Tracys International Schools of Self Defense. These certificates hang on the wall, and can be verified on the Tracy website, as well as can any other 'falsehoods' referred to (but not specified)by this student. The martial arts is not for everyone, as it requires and develops patience, perseverance, and the ability to co operate with others who are on the same path. It is regretful we did not have longer to work with this student and help him more. A.C.K. Institute of Martial Arts - Shidoshi P.S. Wimberly

The true essence of Budo

I´ve and studied under Shidoshi Wiberly more tha a decade. I started back in 1995 while living in Los Angeles and continued to train while living abroad in Mexico City, traveling back and forth from Mexico to L.A. He even gave me lessons through phone while preparing myself for my Brown Belt test! And that, I´m proud to say, was a unique and very interesting experience, that I certainly treasure.

I can only say that his knowledge of the Martial Arts is truly extraordinary. He´s been my spiritual mentor and guide for 14 years , and his teachings have helped me to overcome, not only the obvious aspects of street violence, but the more subtle difficulties of everyday life, which can be just as difficult and demanding. Shidoshi Wimberly will not only teach you the physical aspects of Chinese Kenpo, a truly devastating, brutal and effective self defense system, but you will also learn about the advanced mental and spiritual (Alas! Not religious) aspects of the Martial Arts trough a rigorous but otherwise fun and enlightening training program.

At the ACK you´ll learn not to defend yourself through already proven combat techniques, you´ and sparring sessions, you´ll also learn an array of kicks, punches and katas....but also to grow as an individual and to become a much better person, which is the true goal of the Martial Arts.

People say that "Any bloody fool can pull a trigger", and in some instances that can also be said of many, so called "martial arts schools", where they only only teach people how to beat the opponent to a pulp, no philosophy, no respect, and with the proper training anyone can learn how to kick or punch effectively...Ah! But to actually become a true

Warrior-Sage, that´s another different matter entirely.

At the ACK, Shidoshi Wimberly will share with you his more than 40 years of experience, and if you truly embrace the Martial Way and immerse yourself into his wonderful and eye-opening teachings, you will truly be amazed of what you will be able to accomplish, in the Martial Arts and in your personal life as well. And if that´s what you´re looking for, learning the true essence of Budo, the Martial way, then by all means join the ACK! I can assure you that you won´t be disappointed, at all.

Where tradition meets technology...It's the best training anywhere!

My life has been changed for the better since I began my training at the A.C.K. Institute of Martial Arts. Without going into great detail of personal life experiences I would like to begin by saying I was an upset, sadden, angry, and at times confused individual doing the best I could to struggle to survive day to day, until........I found the A.C.K. It was here that for the first time, throughout all my seeking for answers and understanding of why certain "things" happen or how to get through great tragedy,I found true "tools" to put towards life. From extreme situations to everyday difficulties we (the students) are given physical, mental, and spiritual training and knowledge on how to operate in a higher state as a warrior/sage. We learn to be honorable and strong, to help those who cannot help themselves, and to be the best human beings we can be, these are just a few of the attributes instilled in us through training. This school is the most unique martial arts training that I have ever come across. It is where tradition (that comes from 2,000 years of passed down knowledge, back to the shaolin temple) meets technology (a style that has been updated and modernized for today's applications in society). It is unlike any other training that you will come acroos. In my opinion most schools focus on the physical application of the martial arts; where as, this school ( the A.C.K.) focuses on the full spectrum of the martail arts. Which is the physical, mental, and spiritual (not religous) teachings and interstingly enough this is exactly what makes up the human being as we know it; therefore, the complete package of martial arts meets the complete package of each student. I also appreciate the private lessons in addition to group classes, this allows me to learn at my speed, in the way that I comprehend (since all people learn in differnt ways), and I have the freedom to ask questions in regards to the material so that I get a full understanding in what's being taught. In conclusion, my life has been changed in the following ways I am happy when difficulties occur knowing that I can handle it with the tools and support of my brohterhood in my corner, I have more compassion for society (instead of anger), I feel safe where ever I go even if I'm alone (which for a woment in today's society says a lot), and I know my journey in life is only going to get better simply because the training is always getting better. Thank God for the martial arts, especially for the brotherhood at the A.C.K. Institute of Martial Arts. It has changed, for the better, the lives of many and in my belief one day it will truely change the world as we know it. Good will always prevail over evil through right and honorable actions that should be instilled in all teachings within the martial arts. So I leave you with this......Choose your school wisely and know the lineage from whom you are taught by. It's more important than you may realize. For a full understading and a quick educational lesson of the martial arts you should check out the FREE Lecture given at this school, it will help you make an educated decision in finding the best place that is suitable for you.

Sincerly, Kimberly T.

In just over a year at the ACK I've received thorough training from a number of highly qualified, dedicated and helpful instructors. Although I'm still learning the basics and have hardly plumbed the depths of the school's offerings, I'm very impressed with the level of instruction and the sense of community fostered at the ACK. Additionally, in speaking with students of higher belt levels, I have consistently met with praise for the school's more advanced instruction. I would strongly recommend the ACK to anyone interested in the martial arts!

I began my Martial Arts training at ACK Institute of Martial Arts 5 years ago. I have recieved careful ,personal attention. I have learned how to better take care of myself through better combat skills but I have gained personal inner strength as well in a way that has not conflicted with my religious beliefs at all.

I could'nt recommend this school more highly!
