Hey OWNER! Get staff with manners and common courtesy!!!It has been a dream of mine to see this grand house as I am a huge fan of architecture. When I finally arrived here and found out it was $50 a person, I felt it was worth the cost even if our trip only allowed a few hours for the stop before needing to continue on our way. It was very cold and after getting off the shuttle to see the house, I hurried up the steps and was greeted by the rudest lady. She scolded me for running up the steps and stepping over a chain when all I wanted to do is speak to a worker to find out how to get in the house. She talked down to me like I was a child and said I would bust my face like I don't know how to balance at 38 years old. Her rude attitude didn't stop there. She saw I had children with me who were freezing and showed no concern but continued to patronize me asking me if I paid for my entry or if I thought I was getting in for free. (of course I had tickets -duh) Her rudeness completely spoiled my mood, made me feel unwanted, and ruined my visit. Nobody wants to travel hours, pay high entry fee to be treated like you are not welcome. I would have left after my encounter with her and tried to get a refund if it wasn't such a rare opportunity me being in town to see this home. The house isn't that cool when it is full of jerks.

From Business: We are a fully restored 1868 country inn and restaurant located 35 miles north of Asheville. We offer individual rooms, suites and cottages plus a variety of pack…
Cool atmosphere! Unfortunately they were out of the food we wanted. The beer was good. I had a cider with ginger.
Country cooking. The biscuits are amazing! The fried chicken was good. The green beans were good. Good southern sweet tea, too.
Sunny Point Cafe knows how to make a biscuit! Be prepared for a lengthy wait (we have a party of 6 and waited 90 minutes), but they warn you in advance that it'll take a while. While waiting, there is coffee and water available as well as live music and a garden to walk through. This made the wait much more bearable. Once we got seated, the food was well worth it! When a restaurant does breakfast right, people take notice. I would absolutely recommend if you're not on a tight schedule!
An incredibly enjoyable breakfast experience! Delicious food and great service from the staff. Biscuits are flakey, cooked to perfection, and come with a variety of jam and gravy options!
If this was a Cuban Restaurant that serves Cuban sandwiches, you would think at least they would print it on the menu???????
It has become a used to be. It used to be a great restaurant with ambience and amazing food. Now the food is a step up from needing a take out bag and is so loud its like a stadium. We were there recently and a table of 14 was making everyone else in the restaurant uncomfortable. When asked, the owner said there was nothing he could do, it was a table of 14. That translates loosely to " they are 14 people ordering French fries and I hope enough beer to make more than the tables of 2". The food was so so at best. My dinner friend got ill after the appetizer. Between the appetizer and the yelling, French fry, beer drinking table of 14, we left. Neither of us will ever return. This restaurant is no longer worth the trouble it takes to start the car.
Carmels at one time was great - food, service, bartenders, attitude. We've watched it slide steadily downhill over the last couple of years. First the food (which seems to be swinging back up, to their credit), then the overall attitude of staff, specifically "it's going to cost you". Last night (11/7/2014), we asked about substituting a side and it was: "$2.50" to do so, no option to upgrade the side to a salad at a reduced cost (never been anywhere that wouldn't do that), and the very expensive pimento cheese appetizer ($8.00) cost $1.50 more for 6 more small crostinis needed to finish the cheese off. It might have cost them 25 cents but what it cost was the waiter a reduction in his tip. Pathetic. From the moment we asked about any accommodation it was either "We don't do that" or "it's going to cost you". Seems the accountant is managing the place, too bad, the food is decent, especially the crab cake. But I want some common sense discretion, not a constant dipping into my wallet. Sad.
We stopped by here twice while on vacation and really loved the quaint feel of the town as well as the good food. The wait was short and the staff was easy to work with. We will definitely stop by the next time we are in the area.
The best, I enjoyed my meal and left full. Great service with a smile.....The price was cheap for the amount of food. David from NE Ohio
