The best advice I could give you, if you choose to go with HomeCrafters is, take pictures, write down everything, and seek a lawyer. If they use Ricky as your grader, don’t do it! Two weeks after we moved in our septic tank came uncovered and was leaking, which you can still see a corner of it. 4-5 times this year alone the driveway had to be repaired. We still have standing water around the house when it rains. Since November 23rd they have known about cracks in the foundation that has yet to be fixed. We heard a lot of excuses why it hasn’t been done. (No workers to do it, their backed up, there’s no money in the budget to fix it, someone should get out there is a few days.) Which my lawyer said they would most likely push out any repairs to your anniversary date so they won’t have to fix them. We had 3 other graders come out and look at our land and all have said the same thing. Not graded right, the trees that weren’t taking down, the roots will grow into our septic tank, and all quoted us $5000-$6000 to have it done right. But hey, our loss is their gain!! We even paid to have a structure engineer come look at the foundation just to make sure there was no issue with the foundation, cause let’s face it, if it has taken 4-5 times to fix the grading, can you really trust the foundation was done right?!?This wasn’t my first review. I posted one back in November when we had some issues flooring coming up, crown molding coming down, grading issues (again), and not getting a final walk through after being in the house 5 months. Within minutes of posting Teri called to fix those issues and asked if we would take down the review once those things were fixed, so we did. That might be a reason you won’t find many negative reviews on this company.
Our experience with Home Crafters has been horrible. From the very start it has been unorganized and of the lowest quality that we could have imagined. Our foundation was set wrong. Our floors have been replaced multiple times because they are so easily scratched and they will not stick. Our cabinets that we spent $7,000 to upgrade came completely scratched up, not level and don't even line up right. Our microwave sits 3 inches to right of the center of the range. Doors that don't shut right. Shoddy sheet rock work that will be impossible to fix right. Windows that don't fit correctly that we've been told will eventually start cracking. Every piece of trim in the house is cheap particle board that has already started bubbling up in places. The list goes on and on and it seems that Terri and John could care less. We closed over 40 days ago and our house is still a construction zone. Do not sign the contract Terri has until you've had your own attorney look through it and advise you on how to go forward because it has no protections what so ever for the buyer. Terri has it worded so that as soon as she gets a C.O. from the county she can legally make you close, even if the rest of the house is in complete shambles. After that you'll be lucky to here from anybody at Home Crafters. Trusting Terri with building our home has been the most costly mistake I have ever made. If you're looking to build a house, shop around and find someone different because these guys could care less of what type of product they deliver and these houses will not be worth the land they are built on in 5 years.
John and Terri were over-the-top with customer service and patience as I was shopping.Since purchasing I have been completely satisfied with the home, and all warranties. I have also been very happy with the quality of the home. Everything has been completed as promised.
