Khalid is the best barber I've ever had. I recently moved from Arlington to Atlanta and still haven't found anyone that comes close to Khalid. In fact, the last thing I did before moving was get a haircut from him, knowing that I'd likely not find a better barber in my new city. He's fast, affordable, and just a really good guy. I always enjoy catching up with him about life, travel, etc. I look forward to visiting DC again soon to get a cut from him at his new shop!
This salon won't deserve even one star ,I had a horrible experience at this salon . The owner of the salon doubt the creditability of the groupon voucher and didn't want to accept the print out of the voucher . He gave me a bad attitude and thought I am cheating by using the print out of the groupon voucher. However, I got on my phone and showed him the voucher on my phone in my groupon account to proof the creditability of the voucher. Also, he didn't want to serve me and asked me in a very bad way to leave the store but his staff already hit Redeem on the voucher, so I had to stay . Another thing, this salon does is they charge groupon customers additional fee beside the amount that was paid for groupon by tell them their hair requires a lot of work in additional to the offer to make more money from the client. They told me my hair requires a lot of work but they finished me in just half an hour and asked me to pay additional fee. It is a big rip off . Also, the cleanliness of the store is so bad . The towels are all over the place and the store isn't clean. I was so worry if the tools that they are using on the customers are clean enough. The salon violates all the health department requirements. I recommend the health department to inspect the salon regularly to ensure the cleanliness and health safety of the salon. I won't go back to this place in the future and won't recommend it to anyone.
I had a wonderful experience at Salon Joseph. I'd been coloring my own hair for about 6 months and, to put it mildly, my hair needed help! I knew that I wanted to go lighter to help with my grays, and had done some research and was fairly certain that I wanted to ask for balayage. From the moment I sat in Aileen's chair, she made me feel very comfortable and at ease, and her ideas for my hair matched what I was looking for. The end result was incredible! Aileen transformed my hair, and I can't remember a time when I felt better about how my hair looks. I have received numerous compliments and am so happy to have found Aileen and Salon Joseph!
At last Karen is back . No longer in Shirlington where she reigned supreme as the manager she is gracing another Hair Cuttery on Wilson Blvd. The ease and experience with which she cuts and trims, colors and ouches up, and best of all, hand crimps my curls are unique. Long may she reign.

Tony is good at what he does. Unfortunately, he is very moody, and this time he crossed the line. When I called him he gave me an appointment for a time in which he had other 3 customers. I told him that I didn't want him to change anybody's schedule and that I could see him the following week. However, he said it was ok, and he was going to move them, but made me guarantee that I would be there on time. I went there a little before 12.30pm. He kept working on another customer, which was understandable, and I sat quietly skimming some magazines. Time passed, and he didn't even had the courtesy of approaching me to tell me how long it would take, or even greet me. He had other two customers waiting, with the hair color applied, who were going to need work soon. After waiting for more than 30 minutes without any sign of me coming next in line, I approached Tony to tell him that I was leaving. He reacted very badly and told me that my appointment was at 12.30/1pm (which was not the case) and that when I go to the doctor I wait for the doctor. I told him that 30 minutes was a lot for me, mostly because I was having the keratin treatment which by default takes a long time to process. He started arguing that 30 minutes was nothing and, again, compared the case with a doctor's appointment. Time is very subjective and he cannot judge what is too long for a working mom of a 10 months old, and the juggling that one has to make to be able to have an afternoon at the hair salon. In summary: he is a good hairdresser, the prices are reasonable, but beware of his mood and manners. It should be noted that he called later to apologize and said he was stressed out and that's why he reacted that way. Still, what he did was wrong. For me, going to the salon is a whole experience and since Tony started his own company not long ago, he should be more careful about the way he treats his customers, be professional and control his moods and stress.

I have visited this hair salon for over 12 years and I am very pleased with the service. The owner and personal are very friendly always available for consultation and I am pleased at all. I've never had problems with my hair or scalp. I have recommended it to many people and are very satisfied with the work they have done.The place is small, but very clean. I love the atmosphere.
I usually do my own hair coloring. This is my first time doing coloring at a salon. The stylist colored my hair first then did the haircut. the haircut was ok, but I don't think the stylist knows how to do coloring. I don't believe the color was supposed to be spread/rubbed against your scalp. I felt tingling and a little burning sensation while waiting for 40' for the color to &amp;quot;soak&amp;quot; in. For the next 2-4 days my scalp skin was peeling, and it was NOT dandruff! I combed off and and see chunks of scalp skin coming off. I washed my hair several times a day to make sure the chemicals are washed off and loosen any skin flakes that has not come off. My head was aching for several days. It was horrible! Definitely not going to this place again. Pretty bad experience :(
