We purchased a top-of-the-line leather couch from Carolina Furniture on 12/202013, in fact, the most expensive couch in the store.

It has an electric recliner, so we were worried that the couch would not work when the power goes out. The salesman assured us that this model came with a backup battery.

It was delivered on 12/23, but the motor was broken on the right side, and the couch had no battery backup, as we were told. We asked them to take the couch back and bring one
that worked, but they would not.

On 12/26, a repairman came with a bunch of used parts. None of them fit, and he said he would have to order the part, and that it would be in about a week later.

After a week, we called the store and were told it would be SIX weeks. Again, we asked them to take the couch back or exchange, but they would not.

I had to go out of town for a family emergency and asked if the couch could be repaired before I left, as the part was in. They said "no, that is not our normal day in your town." So they rescheduled, then cancelled the rescheduled appointment because of "snow," though there was no snow on our roads, in the mountains.

When the repairman FINALLY came, he did not have the correct screws, and the plug for the motor was different. He cut the cord and rigged it to fit, then seemed surprised that it worked.

I am happy that the couch works now, but with the "adjustments" that were made to the parts, I don't know how long it will last.

This experience has been an utter nightmare, and I will certainly not buy anything from this store. They made promises and even lied about the features, and didn't stand behind their product at all.

Delay and deception from Carolina Furniture. Buyer beware of you pay for a special order from this company! I had purchased 6 bookcases; one the floor model and 5 they had to order. I was told it would be 4-6 weeks. The deadline passed. Contacted Customer Service; who isn't very quick to answer the phones. Given a new date. Deadline passed. Contacted Customer Service; who isn't very quick to answer the phones. Given a new date. FINALLY they called me to set up a delivery date. The delivery men were great; very nice. They started unloading 6 bookcases--the wrong model. Carolina Furniture tried to sneak 6 bookcases that I hadn't ordered. I refused the order. I called asking for them to mail me back my purchase price--almost 3 months of interest-free use of. I was told that they would not refund my money until they were sure that all 6 bookcases made it back to the warehouse. Are they kidding? Furious, I drove to Carolina Furniture to get my check. They had the nerve to try and "bait and switch" to a much more expensive item. (Isn't that illegal?) I E-Mailed the organization and heard back nothing about my ordeal.

So here's my feeling of being cheated:

1. They sold the 1 floor model that I had paid for. I could at least have had one of the bookcases that I had prepaid for.

2. They never called me with delay updates.

3. They never called me to tell me that my model was not in production and to see if I'd take a different model. (The answer would have been "no".)

4. They used my money, interest-free for almost 3 months.

5. Customer Service has a problem answering the phone; especially when they first open.

6. It was very unprofessional to tell me they couldn't refund my money until the bookcases returned to the warehouse.

7. Their "bait and switch" was insulting.

8. After I E-Mailed the company, they didn't even do the professional thing and contact me back apologizing for the "mix up".




The sales staff was very helpful! I went into the store a few times looking and after a while the staff started to recognize me. I didn't think I had enough money to buy at CFC - seeing as how everything was name brand - but I was wrong. Not only was the staff helpful but the owner went out of his way to personally help me. I was able to buy a beautiful name brand living room suit - and something I can be proud of when friends and family come over! I will buy my kids bed room suits there as well as a new master room when I am ready!
