General Info
Dr. Richard Petrilli was born in Massapequa, New York, where he lived as a small child with his parents and 6 siblings. After moving to Florida in 1972, he attended Forest City Elementary, Teague Middle School, and graduated with honors from Lake Brantley High School in 1984. Dr. Petrilli was able to continue his education by receiving a scholarship to Rollins College in Winter Park. It was in this personalized environment that he flourished. He went on to receive a large variety of academic accolades including Honors in the Major Field, Outstanding Academic Achievement in Anthropology, Health Sciences Achievement Award, and the prestigious Archibald Granville Bush Award (science division). After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology in 1988, he was accepted to the University of Florida School of Dentistry. He was elected president of the UF chapter of the dental fraternity, Psi Omega and received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 1992. Following his graduation, Dr. Petrilli returned to Central Florida and attained a position with a group practice in Orange City. It was in this practice where he gained his skills and expertise in crown and bridge. After several years of practicing in a high volume office, he began to feel that patients deserved something more…something better. It was then that he decided to open his own practice where he could practice high quality dentistry with personalized service. In 1995, Dr. Petrilli opened a private practice in the up and coming Rock Springs area of Northwest Orlando where he specializes in Comprehensive Adult Dentistry. As the area has grown and gained prestige, so has Dr. Petrilli’s practice. This delightful office, decorated in a relaxing Tuscan theme, prides itself on “Providing Extraordinary Care For Extraordinary Patients”.
However, through early detection and regular professional teeth cleanings, Dr. Petrilli and his team can dramatically reduce the effects of periodontal disease. With proper diagnosis, treatment, and regular maintenance, the fight against periodontal disease can be fought and won.
Fluoride Treatment
Artificial teeth have been around for thousands of years. Evidence suggests that ivory or bone replacements were used for lost teeth as early as 700 B.C. In modern times, tooth loss has declined greatly due to improved dental care and fluoride treatments. However, some experts predict that as the baby boom generation ages, the number of people needing dentures will increase. The good news is that advances in dental technology have made dentures more effective than ever in replacing lost teeth.
Traditional silver fillings, also known as amalgam or mercury fillings have been used to treat tooth decay for more than a hundred years. Modern advances in technology, however, have rendered silver fillings obsolete. These types of fillings can cause teeth to crack and split after long periods of time. Dr. Petrilli can safely remove amalgam fillings and replace them with natural-looking composite fillings. If you have old metal fillings, we invite you to join the dental community in saying goodbye to the silver-toothed smile!
Veneers
Gaps, chips, cracks, and a host of other dental problems can be hidden with Lumineers®. Lumineers® are as thin as a contact lens, and unlike traditional veneers, they are placed over existing teeth without the need to extensively remove sensitive tooth structure. They are a virtually painless way of correcting problems with your teeth, and they have been clinically proven to last more than 20 years. After an impression of your teeth is made, Lumineers® are tailored to fit over your existing teeth and shaded to blend in with the rest of your smile. Then, they are bonded to the surface of the teeth using a special dental adhesive and curing light that should keep the Lumineers® in place for many years. Lumineers® are placed with minimal discomfort, and generally require only two office visits. Having Lumineers® placed over damaged, stained, or gapped teeth can change the whole appearance of your smile, and turn it from ordinary to brilliant in no time.
Crowns
Broken or decayed teeth do not only affect the way your smile looks, but also the way you feel. Tooth decay can cause sensitivity, bad breath, and pain. These things can be remedied with a Semi-precious or Procera® All-Porcelain crown. Crown preparation includes the removal of damaged tooth surface and the custom fabrication of a crown. It is designed and shaded to fit your individual smile!
Bridges
For crowns and bridges, we often use Semi-Precious restorations. A Semi-Precious crown is strong and durable, employing a more advanced dental design than standardl crowns. The crown also looks natural at the gum line, with no black lines, and reduces the accumulation of harmful bacteria. These crowns are hypo-allergenic, non-corrosive, and utilize stronger, more cosmetic porcelain. With proper professional and at-home care, these crown attributes can greatly increase the longevity of your dental work.
Dental Bonding
Diastema is the dental term for a gap or space between two teeth. These spaces can cause you to be self-conscious about your smile. There are a variety of procedures that can correct this condition, including Lumineers® or composite bonding.

Of all the advancements made in modern technology, Implant Dentistry is one of the greatest. Dental implants are a permanent way to fill spaces in your mouth, without having to use any surrounding teeth as anchors. A Dental Implant is essentially an artificial tooth root that is placed directly in to your bone to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Once the implant is positioned, Dr. Petrilli places a custom-made abutment and crown in that space. In cooperation with local specialists, Dr. Petrilli can help you fill spaces in the least invasive, most effective way!

Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr. Petrilli also offers traditional Porcelain Veneers for patients looking to correct dental problems like misaligned, cracked, stained, or chipped teeth. These durable concealers are custom-made for your teeth, designed to fit over the visible part of the damaged tooth. After an impression of the teeth is made, the veneer is custom fabricated for you. The tooth is prepared, removing any damaged, stained or broken tooth surfaces. Then, the veneer is bonded to the tooth itself, and shaded to match the rest of your teeth. Traditional porcelain veneers are still very popular cosmetic dentistry treatments, and can repair or conceal damaged areas on teeth for years to come.
