This is a real barber shop. Not a foo-foo hair salon. Stopped by and got a haircut on my way to Houston. Great cut and good story. 15 bucks plus 5 bucks tip. Well worth it
The guy was rude. I told him I wanted gel nail Polish no fake nails. He kept asking if I wanted a full set and I said no just the nail Polish. Not all places call it shellac so I said gel. Then he pulls out the fake nails and I said no. He begins to argue that I said full set. My nails are uneven and he didn't say a word to me after. I will not try this place again.
Melissa made my hair. Initially I wanted to make my existing balayage lighter. I end up with highlights and bluish hair on the end, which supposedely looks like grey, Guy Tang type of coloring. I paid $200 and had to come back next day bc I looked like a clown. I had yellow hair on the top and blue on the ends. Next day Melissa trying to remove bluish color from the ends and make highlights brighter. I ended with this: check photo, one of pic is that I wanted. It's not a balayage and not a highlights, Professional skills are not in question-since they don't exist. She saw her horrible job and pretended it must to be like this. Horrible, unprofessional and absolutely terrible job. If you still want to go there - good luck!
Horrible service!!! Hairdresser was very rough with my hair and had zero customer service skills. When I made my appointment I requested to have my eyebrows waxed, a Malibu, a deep condition, a trim, and for my hair to be blow dried and straightened and told them that I have very long curly hair. When I got there the Malibu was very sub par, I can buy Malibu shampoo and conditioner that is more effective, the deep condition was no different than a regular conditioner and they only put me under the dryer for 7 minutes, she very roughly rinsed out the deep conditioning cream, washed and rinsed my hair. Then when she took me to her chair to do my trim she sprayed a ton of product in my hair then trimmed my hair and told me I would have to sit to the side for 30 minutes to let my hair dry before she would straighten it. I had requested a blow dry and straighten. My hair will not dry on it's own in 30 minutes. I left without my hair styled at all and had to go and immediately wash all of the product out of my hair and style it myself! I will never be back and I do not recommend anyone ever go to Helena's for a service!!!!
Had a terrible experience here. A girlfriend and I, both from outside the Anchorage area, booked an appointment for express gel manicures and pedicures. The salon seemed overwhelmed and poor communication/attitude between staff members was noted immediately, something that should not happen in front of customers. My technician seemed flustered and rushed but was quiet pleasant. He did, however, mess up one of my big toes by not putting it under the UV lamp when he thought he had and smudged the whole nail, causing him to have to redo it and a noticeable line underneath the top two coats of polish. The middle finger of my right hand developed a bubble underneath the polish almost immediately upon leaving the salon causing the polish to peel back on itself and reveal a large hole in the polish 2 days later. My pinkey nail did the same thing within 4 days. My girlfriend received an infection on her big toe from her pedicure several hours later as well as bubbles developing underneath layers of nail polish causing the polish to peel off the nails within less than a week.I called with the news of the infection and the bubbles underneath the nails within 2 days of initial services. The woman working had me send photos of each grievance to her phone and I was assured I would be contacted again. When I had not been contacted again for over a week I called the salon and asked to speak with the manager, explaining my situation all over again, now a week and a half later, to the manager who gave the impression she had no idea a complaint had already been filed. The only compensation I was offered was a 50% discount on a future service or 2 free Basic Manicures, neither of which satisfy me as I explained multiple times that we are not from Anchorage and will not be driving 2 hours for nail services, especially sub-par nail services.To say I will never go back here or recommend it to anyone are vast understatements.
I had made an apt with Lorraine to get a cut, oil treatment, style and wax. My apt was originally at 9:30 and she was running late, so I ended up rescheduling, and when I got there I waited 20 mins past my apt time, she said I had a 70's haircut, bc it was cut straight across and she ended up giving me layers, which I told her when I sat down that I didn't want them, and after my brow wax, it normally gets red and goes away within an hour or two, but this time there was a dried up blood spot underneath my eyebrow, and it was red and bumpy for almost 3 days after my apt. This has never happened to me, I will not be going back!
Well, their site does work for booking an appointment and there is no way to contact them. Not a good experience so far!
