One of the worst experiences ever. Angie was the lady that applied the color to my hair, she was great. The color itself with out bleach, haircut or style was $100.00. After one wash the "permanent" hair color started washing out in weird places. I went back in less than a week of the first application and had her re-apply the color on two sections due to washout. Within two weeks of getting the color put in it started to wash out at the root mostly and on the shaft of some of the sections it was colored. So I went in a third time to see of they could fix the problem with the washout and Angie told me that "he", which must have been the manager, said that they would have to charge me again to fix the washout. I only had the dye applied one time fully and the second time I went in she only applied the dye to two sections of my whole head, so a partial fix. I am so sad that there are still places that can preform a service for someone and let them leave unhappy and not fix the problem. The reputation of this place is poor and the customer service from the gay guy with the mohawk at the desk was horrendous. Never again.

I have gotten my hair cut twice at hairplay. The first time was pretty good, the second time AWFUL! Jessica was my ""stylist"", more like a butcher actually. She started with my bangs, which I said I wanted at a VERY steep angle. The first snip she made with her scissors cut them almost completely straight! When I said something about them, she was very rude and said they would look better after she styled them. Then, she ""trimmed"" my hair without layering like I asked her and she didn't even check to make sure the ends were even. (And they were NOT, as my next stylist informed me). I didn't say anything because I just wanted OUT of her chair. I should have asked for my money back. I'm sure there are reasons this place is so highly rated , but Jessica is not one of them.

My coworker and I made appointments together at 1 to get our hair done, once I was brought back I showed the girl ""Tessa"" a picture of how I wanted my hair, and she took me for a shampoo, which was great, and then she cut my hair, and whined the whole time about how shes been sick and how expensive the medication was, and then she told me how she did jury duty the last 3 weeks and only got $25 a day, and kept whining about money.
Then she kept walking away to see if her next client was there, and asking me what time it was, she actually let me walk out of there with wet hair!!!! she said she felt bad she didnt have enough time to style my hair but she would scrunch it a little..she put a little gel in it and almost scrunched it but really didnt, she went over it with the blow dryer for about 10 seconds then took me to the front counter. I was really upset I paid for a shampoo, cut and style, when I didnt get any kind of style. AND still charged full price.
as soon as I left i Made an appointment at maries beauty salon and had them style my hair.

Requested to have a dark/brown hair color and they did
red-orange at the roots, streaks of black everywhere and dark brown the bottom! I could have done a better job at home. The charge? whooping $195 plus 4 hours of stress!
I tried to resolve by showing the boss what a terrible job hairstylist done to my hair- humiliated me by saying get out! and there's nothing they can do about it. He even said they can't guarantee the color outcome-what? are you kiiding me? you are a SAlon!!!
Oh noh! stupid guy-doesn't know anything about customer service at all.

I've been going to this place for about 10 months, so for not good. Here are some examples:
First of all, don't ever go here for elumen. Elumen is supposed to be permenant; when I went here for it, it lasted 3 weeks. $250 for a ""permanent color"" and a cut- which they also screwed up on the cut.
Secondly, parking is VERY limited and cramped. Most likely you'll end up blocking out someone, since you can only park in front of the building or to the side.
Last but not least, I ALWAYS make appointments- and yet, I've always had to wait at least 15 minutes. Most recently (February '09), I've waited 40 minutes, which I felt was more than enough time, because the stylists really are not that good. They're socially awkward and full of themselves, and they give mediocre hair cuts.
All in all, I definitely WOULD NOT recommend a friend to go there.

first time there. been to allure and beauty room. really love hair play now. had some sketchy results at my last salon and was really scared to go get my color done again. ive been to 3 different people for my color now at hair play and have had great results each time. the prices are cheaper than my last place. i still paid almost 200 for cut color and hilite tho. but if your gonna pay for it, you mite as well be happy. i am.
cut was 30
color was around 150
and wax was 20
the guy at the desk was a big help to. hes booked my appointment every time i called.
now all my family and friends go there. even my dentist gets her hair done there. lol

for such a high traffic salon, it's possible to be a walk-in most days, weekends are a little more difficult but it can be done, especially if they know you're having a ""bad hair day"" and just ""have"" to get your mojo back. (I always feel better after my hair is done).
I've been there a few times, I won't tell you the name of my hairstylist because when I share ""favorites"" they always become booked and I can't get mine done :P
I study all the stylists when I'm getting my hair cut/colored and they all seem very qualified.
Prices are resonable and you can always drop your husband at Red Robin's down the street while you're geeting your hair done and he'll be happy too!
Trying to make an appointment for a Saturday is next to impossible - But they are open sundays too.
Very happy with everyone there. I've been to 4 different stylists for my color and have always been impressed.
Its sometimes hard to make a same day appointment for color, even though they have like 15 hair stylists.
Prices are acceptable (though sometimes a little high, I think.. average for me is around $150 for cut and highlights).
The front desk people are very helpful, especially the guy (i think he's the manager too).
Oh, and they seem to only hire really pretty people (the guy is pretty cute too!).

I've been going to Hair Play since 2002 and have seen atleast 5 different stylist for my color.
I've been happy everytime. I had a normal stylist who moved out of state and have kinda bounced around ever since. They really know what there doing and whats really cool is that since Ive been to so many people everyone knows me. They all say hi and collaberate on what color I should get this time. Its a fun place to go. They're pretty good at getting me in when I need to make an appt and the prices are great (and I get a lot of work done).
I'm not sure what that other review is all about.. but man, they sound crazy. Trust me, you'll love hairplay!

I made a same day appointment to get my roots touched up before my sister's wedding. I gave the woman my processing information the last stylist who did my highlights gave me (and BEST EVERY, too bad it was out of state :( ) and she came back and said she would not put this on my hair because it would fall out, and she would mix up another color. Then when she started she painted it on instead of highlighting!!!!! HUGE mistake! when I left I had bright orange roots that did not blend with the rest of my hair. She only did the crown of my head, so when I put half my hair up, you could see an inch of orange in my roots, not natural at all and it cost me $170!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I should have refused to pay but i didn't know that was legal. I called and complained and was told to come back the next day to have the same stylist fix it. She did her best but it still looked horrible. It's been almost a year, and my new stylist says I'll be ""color correction for life"" meaning every time I get highlights or color, I have to do it 2 or 3 times before my hair wil take- 3 is more expensive than 1! I will never go back, and think everyone needs to know what happened to me. I wasn't even offered a discount! DO NOT GO THERE!!!!
