Barbara Norton, CNM, ANP, and Rhonda Johnson, CNM, ANP, both have 20 years of experience practicing midwifery. They have each attended over 1,000 births in various settings, from homes to birth centers to different hospitals. They are currently focusing on providing midwifery services in The Birth Place in Wasilla during the summer of 2015, and then in Geneva Woods Birth Center and Providence Hospital beginning in fall 2015. The mission of the midwives of Geneva Woods Midwifery is to meet the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of their clients, and to provide the physical space - whether in the birth center or hospital - where women can trust in birth and in the power of their own bodies. Our goal is to have happy moms, healthy babies, and families who have been strengthened by the childbirth experience. We practice a traditional Midwifery Model of Care that is also evidence-based. Geneva Woods Midwifery is a new practice formed by very experienced midwives. Barbara and Rhonda both have 20 years of experience as CNMs attending births in hospitals, birth centers, and homes. Currently they offer maternity care and births in a birth center or hospital setting, as well as full-scope well-women Nurse Practitioner care.
