We've put together a small list to get you started on your journey -- and the first step starts with a single box.
DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF MOVING HERE. I am absolutely disgusted with the management here and how they address issues that have stemmed from the faults in their apartment's structural foundation. I live in an upstairs apartment with my boyfriend and our dog. Our downstairs neighbor has made it his mission to complain every time we walk around the apartment because, quite frankly, he is a sad man with nothing else to do with his life. He has even gone as far as banging on the walls and following me from my apartment to my car harassing me about being too loud in the middle of the day. Even after the maintenance people inspected our apartment and proved that it was not our fault that he could hear us because the foundation is loud, they have still chosen to let this man harass us and now they are threatening to evict us for something we can not control. I feel helpless and ignored by the staff, and I can see the manager judging me because I am in my twenties while our downstairs neighbor is older. She insinuated that we are party animals when my boyfriend works at night for 60 plus hours a week busting his ass to pay for an expensive apartment with a horrible foundation. I am honestly afraid to even walk around my own apartment after 10 o'clock because they have sent me letters saying that they will make me leave my apartment if he complains again. Also, as if anything could add to this pile of turd, the parking sucks. Just please do yourself and your sanity a favor and go live somewhere else!
I am living in Waterwheel apartments (1144 N Euclid St. Anaheim) and I want to write about the main problems in this complex: 1. Unfair RENT INCREASING every 6 months:It has been at least three times that they have increased the rent price every 6 months for $50. It is crazy because they are increasing the rent price $100 every year. I talked to many of my friends in Anaheim, Fullerton, and Irvine about their apartments rent increasing policy. whether they are on month to month or contract rent, the increasing amount was between $0 to $40 for every year, not $100 for one year like us.2. Cockroaches:even though you try hard to control cockroaches, they will come from the other apartments because of old buildings and very poor cabinets. The cabinets have lots of little and big gaps between them and walls.3. Poor laundry service.Machines are old and almost every month happens that I put my quarters and the washers or driers don't work. The worst part is when the washer gives up in the middle of washing and you don't know what to do with your very wet and dirty clothes.4. Thief people:They get inside the complex and steal shoes and anything they can get. Once they broke several garages doors and steal from tenants. Even at day time they try to steal from the garages.5. Very noisy plastic Speed Bumpers:They have broken plastic bumpers all around the complex. When cars pass them, it causes a very unpleasant noise. Specially, at morning time that many people go to work, and late-night time.At the end I want to mention, the manager is a nice lady and I like her. All my complains goes to the Landlord. I don't know what kind of illusion makes them to increase the rent price $100 every year for this very regular complex.
Lots of maintenance issues
I have been STUCK at this place since 2009. I went from $910 monthly to $1310. All of the rent hikes happened within the last 3 years. I turned in my 30 day notice on 10/24 and received a notice on my door about my rent going up again in December unless i switch out of a month to month and move into a lease. We pay nearly $75 dollars for trash collection!! WTF! the water gets shut off at least once monthly due to plumbing problems. I have never had my apt pained, carpet changed/cleaned, blinds replaced, linoleum replaced, balcony screen door fixed. NOTHING. there is no window in the bathrooms so mold happens constantly and the way they fix it is by paining over it. My kitchen floor is unleveled so my door has a huge opening under it. I asked and asked for a solution because my old AC doesn't keep my living room cool due to the opening under my door and got no solution. I have huge water roaches running in my apt constantly. They are always out in the hallways too. I cant was my car and keep it clean because the landscaping guys leaf blow the carports and dust it all up. The old maint. lady used to give us dirty looks when we would walk down the corridors while she cleaned. Sorry, its the only way out of my apt. I cant wait to be out of there. I expect my full deposit back. Yea right!!
BEWARE OF ESSEX APARTMENTS- ANAVIAAnavia Apartments, owned by Essex is the worst community we have ever lived in. Our cars have been broken into twice, our motorcycle once, and now today our motorcycle was stolen in broad day light in our locked parking garage. While waiting for the police to come we spoke with neighbors and 9 out of 10 people told us stories of how their cars have been broken into and some even said it has happened mulitple times. 4 motorcycles have been stolen in the last 3 months and over 15 cars and counting that we know of have been broken into.
Horrible management they will scam you , managers are rude and things are always breaking and they will try to blame you for it , things are always getting broken into
I lived at these apartments for a few years. Until they kicked my family out and a few others to raise the rental rates. Seems a little unfair.

I moved in in August with my boyfriend and another couple.I have no idea who the f*** owns this place. Not the managers, that doesn't matter because they have new "managers" every month. But seriously whoever OWNS this property is a wallet (something that rhymes with caper) who doesn't care about a single tenant. And like all owners doesn't show his face. We moved in a duel master apartment for a $1540 "special" and next month it is going up to $1740. We have mini ants everywhere everyday even now in winter, a ghetto "new" dishwasher that was purchased as a cheap a** refurbished appliance (things are installed upside down/unusable), a dangerously expensive parking situation, and no relief from these stresses. Whoever owns this property does not OWN their own parking lot… they vaguely explain the situation but basically an outside company owns the parking spots behind the gate that was put to protect the tenant's cars. So if you make a tiny mistake and forget your sticker or park back in the middle of the day in an empty spot too long, even if there is 10 other free spots… YOU WILL GET TOWED.Basically someone who works for the local towing company, To 'n Mo, also jerks, either lives here or works with the individual who owns the parking because they make sure to tow as quickly as possible and charge anywhere from $200-$400 to just get your car back. By the way, the price changes every time you pick up your car depending on their mood or how attractive you are, but they're always super mean so expect the worse. I've never had my car towed, thank goodness, but my roommates' car has been towed a total of 4 times in 6 months! Yesterday it was towed, the day after we payed rent, how the f*** is that suppose to get paid? How about I don't pay next month cause you took all my money, the rest is for food. Each time happened very quickly for no good reason. If theres at least 2 more free spots the why the hell tow someone like they're in the way? And there have been anywhere from 2-10 free spots open in the back every night since before thanksgiving. You can go cry and complain to the office but they can't help, they don't even own the parking. Just make those suckers give you a ride to work when you realize that your car is gone, its the least they can do. I'm sure Casa Madrid gets some sort of compensation from the tows, you know they do or they wouldn't let someone else harass their tenants. I'm just tired of the money grubbing… Move somewhere else, I swear you can find somewhere better… this place only LOOKS nice but everything else is BULLS***.Don't even both moving in and trying to ask for maintenance or help with the little things that are wrong… they use to help right away, when we were new. Now they have better things to do. And the little things piled up and cause bigger problems.I'm posting this on other sites because I'm dead serious. I will also be posting once a month until I move. They can take my money for the next 6 months but I'm going to show as much as I can how terrible they are to the people who PAY to live here. I'm not surprised tho, I haven't met a decent apartment owning corporation since I started renting. Wallet (something that rhymes with caper) that smile through their lies.
Parking: You get shared or unshared garages. Some people get spaces. You have 1, 2 or 3 spots but its not sorted as to how many bedrooms you have. Garages are poorly maintained and leak. Theres NO visitor parking. If you have an open space, others might park in it and management does nothing. Maintenance: The maintenance man only speaks English when its convenient. If yo’re asking him to fix something, its suddenly “No hablo Inglés.” However, if you owed him money or if his job requires him to write in English, his English is perfect. He NEVER fixes things! We have had leaky plumbing for over a year. Every drain that can leak, does. Every month we write a work order and get the same results. The manager knows this, because if something needs to be fixed, she calls in a professional.Construction: These apts might have looked good over 30 years ago. If they were better maintained, maybe the construction would be in better condition. They keep doing things half way, the construction wont last long. Like replacing only certain boards of a deck with serious termite damage and not treating for the termites, which was the original cause of the rotted deck. Or resealing the pool because of complaints to the health department when some folks got sick, but not doing the hot tub at the same time.Noise: The noise is all right if you enjoy hearing your neighbors music and dogs barking constantly. The managers dogs are the main ones causing the ruckus. I dont understand how she thinks its ok for her to own like 6 dogs, but I suppose when youre the boss you have no one to answer to. Her dogs make a ton of noise anytime someone passes by them and dont let your children get too close because theyre not friendly. Men zoom through the parking lot fast with their music blaring at all times of the night. You get a lot of street noise in the complex and hear the fireworks every night at 9:30, but not see them.Grounds: Why cant they fix the sprinkler system and put in some grass? If they had an issue keeping the grass green, they could always recruit the guy living on the East Side of the complex because he definitely has a green thumb. He has entirely too many plants on his patio attracting all of those bugs, but I guess thats ok since h’s the manage’s ex boyfriend and she still has a thing for him. Not to mention itd be nice if theyd add a grilling area since youre not allowed to keep grills on your patio. Safety: Le’s just say youre as safe living here as you would be standing in the middle of the street. The “gated community” does nothing since security and office staff will let anyone in. I cant tell you how many times Ive seen people enter the gate after waiting for someone else to open it, since they didnt have a way to be buzzed in. People walking through and cars parked on top of the sensor always leave the gate open. The manager is more concerned about keeping tenants out of the pool, than keeping people who dont live here out of the complex. Ive had my garage burglarized too. Security staff is late or sometimes doesnt show up at all.Laundry: The laundry machines, the few that are there, usually dont work and steal your quarters. The manager is supposed to open the laundry room during certain hours, but dont count on that happening. On several occasions Ive had to wait until after 1 PM to do laundry because the rooms were locked on days when it should have opened at 9 AM. My stuff has been stolen from the laundry room many times and the cameras dont catch crime, because they dont even work. Most of the cameras in the complex dont work, theyre just “for show.” (Quoted from the managers mouth.)Office Staff: The manager Diana is the worst. The office staff in general doesnt do their jobs, they dont follow the laws and they just dont care! They are so rude. You should listen to my warning and not move here. Once youre here, they will make you miserable.
