I was trying to find a hair salon near amherst area that does braiding and i found this place. I really liked the end result, my braids look professionally done. The hairstylist is also very fast and the prices were decent. Also my braids did not feel very heavy, they felt a little lighter and they did not hurt my neck. I also liked that the hairstylist did not tighten my braids too tight especially in the front. By the second day the soreness was almost gone.
I decided to try this salon because I had some bad experiences with the salons in Springfield. I liked the fact that the stylist was fast, she seemed like she was good at what she does, the prices were decent and i loved the end results. The downside for me was that the stylist was pretty sarcastic and rude to customers Her behavior really put me off from going back there, which is too bad because I thought I had found a gem.
It's hilarious how the owner is using various names and/or her friends to give herself positive reviews. Anyway, I also had a bad experience with her. I've worked in a salon, have been licensed for a while and can do my own hair but sometimes I get tired of doing my hair. I was excited at the prospect of coming to get my hair done by a woman of color in amherst. I have natural hair and thought finding a salon like this was going to be heaven instead of risking it in a salon where they have no clue of how to deal with AA hair. When I told her when i'd be there and reached a few minutes early to the salon, she wasn't there. When she saw me standing outside the door, instead of saying hello, she was ridiculously rude. She asked me why couldn't I just come when I said I was going to come. (for a few minutes early?...really?) Highly unprofessional. She then used a fine tooth/small tooth comb to comb my naturally curly hair (while it was dry!!!) Last but not least, by the time my hair was flat ironed and curled, it looked like dianna ross 80's hair (which I was not going for). I went home to just fix it. Overall, I thought she was just not having a good day but after reading posts here and speaking to a few friends that went there as well, and realizing she had treated them rudely, I can no longer defend the stylist's behavior. I understand she is convenient for the location but if you want to be treated nicely and feel confident about your new hairstyle, the drive to anywhere else is worth it.
Would have loved to give business to a local establishment. My first encounter with this salon was someone sticking their head out of the door and telling me I was not allowed to stand there and be on the phone because they didn't want to hear me. Mind you I was not speaking loudly, was not in front of their salon, and they had their doors and windows open and would have heard whispers. I found this encounter extremely rude, they interrupted and important conversation in which I was crying to tell me I had to move from public property. Will NEVER give my money to people so inconsiderate.
