Tubac Golf Resort, located in Tubac, Ariz., features an 18-hole championship golf course, Stables Restaurant, meeting rooms, Otero Hacienda Houses for event hosting, renovated clubhouse, 350 yard driving range, lodging and a fitness center. Its golf course was built in 1960 by Red Lawrence, who built more than 20 courses throughout the Southwest. In 2004, the course was redesigned by noted architect John Harbottle. Tubac Golf Resort traces its roots to 1789, when it was a cattle ranch that was also the first Spanish Land Grant in the Southwest. In 2002, the golf course and resort were sold to a group of 14 partners headed by the Ron Allred family, who built Telluride Ski Resort in Colorado and also owns Rancho Ma ana Golf Resort in Cave Creek, Ariz. Tubac Golf Resort had the distinction of being one of several locations used in filming the golf movie Tin Cup, starring Kevin Costner and Rene Russo.
