I signed a lease in July and was never able to move in because they never finished the renovations on my apartment. After paying all of the fees and signing the lease they finally allowed me to see the apartment. There were a plethora of problems ranging from broken fixtures to a bathroom that we couldn't actually use. The renovation was shoddy at best. We asked them to address our problems and have it fixed by the end of August, giving them plenty of time. Nothing was done. We had to leave our other apartment on Sept. 1st and had nowhere to go but the couch at my parent's house. It is November and they are finally going to let us out of the lease, but are demanding that we pay an additional $550 for an apartment that we never lived in. They claim this is because they didn't know we weren't living there until October, despite our continued conversations regarding the fact that the apartment was not, and is not to this day, move in ready. They also had the grace to say they COULD charge us $10,000. By the way, I only know this because I called them. They did not inform us of this additional charge in anyway. I'm lucky I called them when I did, because they planned to send it to collections this Friday. Some of the apartments here are probably nice, but based on my experience, and that of my downstairs neighbor (who had to call Altamonte Code Enforcement just to have some exposed wiring fixed after it injured his child because The Ashley wouldn't do anything about it) I would not recommend this complex to anyone.
to ask the neighbors before moving. The mold is awful. The maintance is patch up work.These apartments have a high turnover of tenants. People move but not this often. The ninty-nine dollar move in is true. But once you move in you find out quick it was a mistake.I the applicance or outdated and the other tenants patios remind you of the ghetto.The screen doors don't work. Pools area needs work.They advetise a tennis court. That is a joke. Rent at you own risk.The person who wrote the review on 3/4/2010 must work for the complex. They are only one satisfied with the complex. Just look at the empty apartments

This place is the BIGGEST rip off/ scam... They act all sweet and professional when they're trying to get you to move in /then when u do move in they change COMPLETLEY.. The biggest problem was the ELECTRICITY -thru Progress Energy which is the WORST anyways) For a small 2 bed apt my electric was almost 300/month !!!! Thats more than Ive EVER PAID 4 ANY place, evn my big house that was 4 bed/4 Bath 3000 SQ ft!! Progress told me they get ALOT of the issues w/this place due to POOR INSULATION. Also MAINTENANCE issues... since I moved in I did a "walk through" so they could fix what was "missed" 3 mos later, NONE of the TWO PAGE list has even been scheduled. There is more, but not necessary to list...

Let me tell you about my nightmare at the Ashleys...
1) When we moved in we noticed that there was a patch of ceiling in the bathroom that was slowly bubbling and browning from a drip in the ceiling. I called the office several times to discuss the matter with the management and I always got the same answer, ""Your problem will be dealt with in order of sevarity."" Apparently it wasnt until the ceiling fell into my tub in the middle of the night that they felt it was a sevear situation. My ceiling wasnt fixed for a week so we had to shower with this huge hole above our heads! 2) My window was broken by a huge piece of concreate TWICE (by neihborhood kids). The window was simply covered with a piece of wood for 3 weeks and we ended up with lizards and all sorts of critters in our house. 3) The mold is so bad, you can see it growing on the outside of the complex. I bleached my windows 4 times durring the year we were there and the mold would return in a few days.
4) My refridgerator stopped working properly and wasnt fixed for 3 weeks. Needless to say we spent a ton of money on food that went bad and eating out because we had no food. I only asked for 40 dollars back for the meats that went bad. I called twice and was told both times that someone would get back to me on that. They never did.
5) The Air conditioning would freeze over and they would simply spray anti-freeze. That would work for a day. We went an entire summer without AC. Additionally, my car was keyed in the parking area and my friends car was stolen. I had to deal with the maintanence guys hitting on me in my own home when my man was at work. Talk about uncomfortable! Oh yeah, and they would come into your apartment whenever they felt like it. They would show up at 8 in the morning pounding on the door and if I were to have to jump out of bed in a mad dash to get dressed sometimes I would have a strange man in my house before I could get my pants on!
