A/C repair was supposed to be covered by the extended warranty we had but we were told that the unit was beyond repair and that we needed to purchase a new one. They quoted us with $7,000.00 but we got one from another vendor for $2,795.00; when the extended warranty contract expires we are not renewing!

I bought the warranty and called for a summer service an inspection before the warranty expired. THE TECHNICIAN WAS A LAZY SCAMMER!!! He told us that the reason the humidity was high was because we keep our doors closed. Then he told us that the unit needed a special custom ordered filter and not the ones we've used for 10 years, since they were 1/4" too small and causing wear n the equipment and making the warranty invalid. He refused to clean out the unit. He look a photo and told us that we needed to buy a new unit and with his coupons he could get us a discount if we set up the appointment through him. He said we bent the fins when we cleaned the unit and that also made the warranty invalid and they were causing the motor to over stress. He refused to leave until we set an appointment to buy a new unit. Sears was INDIFFERENT when I called to complain. My husband watched a You Tube video and fixed the fins with a tol from Home Dept that is designed to fix the bent fins. he bought a product at Home Deopt and cleaned out the unit himself. My husband is not a handy person, but for less than $50, the AC is back t blowing full cold. There is a special place in HELL for SEARS AC SCAM ARTISTS and I hope he burns!
Sears Home Services has made addressing my concerns difficult. I've called customer service but they will absolutely refuse to give a mailing or email to address for a written complaint. My HVAC system was installed in 10/2010 cost $5,321.00+$778.60 (master protection plan) . On occasions I've had issues with my air handler breaking down due what I believe is faulty installation.Yes, Sears' technicians replaced parts to get it running but the core issue has NOT been addressed. My experience has been the whole customer service system is counter productive. I am left feeling as a non-rewarded- non-valued customer that shopped for an expensive item and soon (after added warranty) will have a huge financial burden due to the wrong decision of choosing Sears as my installer. The departments I've dealt with don't seem integrated and seamless in operating practices.PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MiSTAKE I MADE IN HIRING SEARS IN THE SEMINOLE COUNTY,FL AREA to install your HVAC system.
Sears is such a hassel at getting things done. We had a warranty and called to get the refrigerator fixed. They sent out a "maintenance" guy who couldn't fix anything. He took pictures and said he ordered the part. Then nothing happened and our warranty then expired. We called back to find out what happened and got a lot of BS that our warranty expired . After I argued with them for a while they sent someone out and it is fixed.
I really did not think I was going to be scammed by Sears Repair! I called to make an appointment to have my dryer repaired and ended up buying a protection plan for $207. The Sears rep explained that the protection plan was the best deal as it not only included repairing the dryer but if it failed again in the next 12 months Sears would offer up to $500 for a new dryer (currently on sale new for $378.00). The next day the repair man arrived, announced he could not fix the dryer and called another repair service that cost me $139 for a 5 minute repair. However this did not fix the dryer and another appointment was made to repair the dryer. The second Sears rep installed a new motor and it has been working just fine. So I wasted a lot of time and spent almost as much for a new dryer! We are now convinced to get out of the Kenmore business.
