I had bariatric surgery (Roux en Y) in August 2017. My highest weight was 285, and today my weight is 139.6. Yay! Iâ€™ve lost over 145 lbs. and 5 pants sizes (3X to M). I no longer have diabetes (type 2), acid reflux (GERD), bladder stress incontinence, or sleep apnea. I have less foot and back pain, and my fibromyalgia symptoms are greatly reduced. My depression is so much better on a daily basis, probably because Iâ€™m no longer stuck in the bed! My diet is so much healthier, and Iâ€™m no longer addicted to sugar. My sincerest thanks to Dr. Michael Williams and his team for performing this life-changing surgery and for giving me the tools to live a more fulfilling life!!! I also thank God for directing me to Dr. Williams and giving me the strength to stick with the program.

Minimally Invasive Surgery
Dr. Williams received his surgical training at the Brooklyn Hospital Center where he was awarded the laparoscopic resident of the year award and was also awarded a scholarship for achieving the highest score in the resident in-training exam. He continued his training with a minimally invasive surgery fellowship from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. His laparoscopic skills are exemplified by his awards in the laparoscopic skills shoot out competition at the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress in 2001 and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons meeting in 2002.
Hip Replacement
As with any surgery, there are a few risks you need to be aware of before having the procedure. Less than one in 20 patients will experience major complications from surgery. This makes it less risky than hip replacement or gallbladder surgery. Also consider the risks of not having the surgery. Your doctor would not recommend bariatric surgery if they didnâ€™t think the benefits outweighed the risks.

I had a facelift, eyelid & browlift surgery - $14,000! No question about it, I look 15 years younger from the front and 68 from the rear. My 03-Mar-2008 tightening has not made any change in weight loss.
Laparoscopic Surgery
Your post surgery physical activity level will likely be determined by the type of procedure you have undergone. Most patients can return to work within 1-3 weeks following laparoscopic surgery, while open surgical procedures may be slightly longer. Exercise can typically resume within six weeks or less after surgery.
Bariatric Surgery
One form of malabsorptive bariatric surgery is the biliopancreatic diversion (BPD). It was first developed in Italy by Dr. Scopinaro. It was once a commonly performed procedure but has fallen out of favor among bariatric surgeons because of the high risk of malnutrition.
