We chose this company to do a home inspection based on a recommendation by a realtor. The inspector that came out, we later found out, was the owner's young son who had little experience. Throughout the inspection any question we asked he responded with "I don't know" or "that's above my pay scale." We had to point out several items like a cracked sink and broken windows that he overlooked. His response was "oh I guess I should take a picture." He also missed water pooling at the outside edge of the house even though he walked right by it. This inspector acted very unprofessional, unskilled and immature. This was an inspection on a 500,000 house that was treated like an inspection on a lower priced home. At the end of the inspection the inspector failed to review significant structural concerns that he noted in the attic even though we were present the entire inspection for that purpose. Immediately following the inspection, we called the company and left a voicemail expressing our concerns. This phone call was not returned and an inspection report was generated and sent to our email. We had to call the company again the next day to express our concerns and spoke with the owner, who is the inspector's father. Of course due to family bias, the owner backed what the son had done and said we were unreasonable in our concerns. After much discussion the owner finally agreed to reinspect but would only look at the foundation and nothing else. At this point we have no confidence in the company and they should not be allowed to do home inspections. They did offer begrudgingly to refund our cost only if we signed a report stating that we would not use the inspection report. At this point because they have already distributed the report (even knowing my concerns) not only have I viewed it but my realtor has also. I cannot speak for other parties involved that the report will not be looked at in the future. Other inspection companies will refund the money and pay for a new inspection if you are unhappy.
