Grunge gym. This is a family owned and run gym with some good points and some bad. Overall, I’d give it a C. Equipment (B): if you like to have state of the art equipment with built in TVs, this is not the place for you. There are loads of machines and there is nearly never a wait to use what you want. There is a good balance between cardio, free weights, and machines. Cleanliness (C): this is a grunge gym. The equipment is not very clean. Even though a spray bottle and paper towels are provided, I almost never see anyone wiping down the machines. I’d recommend having someone walk around and wipe machined down with a sanitizing rag or something, especially in this flu season. The bathrooms are a bit gross, too. Gyms are the worst places for spreading germs. I’d like to see them do better at keeping things clean and to have anti-bacterial wet wipes all around. Sauna: I’m not sure about the men’s restroom, but the wet sauna in the woman’s restroom is not functional. And I have never been there when the dry sauna is turned on. Classes (C): Classes seem to be just ok. I’m not sure what type of certification the instructors have, some are better than others. Flexibility of contract (F) : NOT! I am not impressed by the flexibility of the contract. You must sign a 12 month or 24 month contract. And if you break it, you still have to pay 65% of the months remaining! This is NOT good business, especially in a community where business professionals and military are coming and going and may move without much warning. And, 60 days notice to cancel your contract after the first year is not good business either. Why would they need 60 days notice anyway? Cost (B): compared to other area gyms, their cost is ok, as long as you do not pay their ridiculously high enrollment fee. Membership runs $60/month. And if you want towel service, that is another $10/month. Classes are included in that price. Location (A): they are conveniently located, and far enough off the busy street that it is easy to walk to or to find parking nearby.
