Opened in 1953, D. F. Huddle Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through grade six and also operates a preschool. It offers academic programs in language arts, science, social studies, reading and mathematics. The school also offers the Title 1 program, which includes free and reduced meals to low-income families. D. F. Huddle Elementary School has an approximate enrollment of 250 students and a staff of nearly 20 employees. Its facilities include a library, cafeteria, computer laboratory with Internet connections and more than 20 classrooms, as well as an auditorium that can accommodate up to 480 people. The school operates a 4-H Club, which conducts sessions by guest speakers who motivate and educate the club members. D. F. Huddle Elementary School is located in Alexandria, La., and is a part of the Rapides Parish School District. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
