PetSmart employee Annette Heckber violated the law by doing all of the following:
(1) stealing a dog (a Dachshund) from one of her neighbors in Maryville, Tennessee;
(2) putting that dog in her car;
(3) removing all identifying information from that dog, including its collar; and
(4) abandoning that dog in West Knox County (specifically, Sequoyah Hills), in the dark and cold to fend for itself.
Though I called both Knox County and Blount County to report this incident (which Annette Heckber shared with me over the telephone), nothing was done because of the change in jurisdiction (from Blount County to Knox County)..
WITH AN EMPLOYEE LIKE THAT AT PETSMART IN MARYVILLE, TENNESSEE, DO YOU WANT TO PATRONIZE THIS STORE???
I appologize for your poor experience madam. I have worked in the pet industry for over 3 years. I managed a grooming shop and a petshop of which we both cut nails and i am here to tell you that this is something they did. The very first time i ever cut nails i had more sense than to cut the nails to short. actually i have only cut 2 nails two short in my whole 3 years. one nail is one story but all of them is another. This is inhumane and groomer neglect. I would have seeked legal actions.
Never go to this place!!! The first time I attempted to go I had an appt at 4p. When I got there they said they would not allow my dog to be there because they didn't have the rabies records, which I know they did because he had his shots less than 3 months before and had already had a bath there since getting his shots. I decided to try again because he needed his nails trimmed because I get worried doing them myself and his vet charges $12 just for nails when Petsmart is about $20 for a bath, nails, and checking his ears. When I picked my dog up he was acting funny and not wanting to leave (I thought it was because he smelled another dog or somthing) but when I got home I noticed there was a bunch of blood on the seat he laid in and again did not want to walk to the house. It was then I noticed his nails were cute EXTREMELY too short, not just 1 or 2 but seriously all of them!! I was furious but since I had a late appt and they ask for 4 hours to do everything by the time I got him home they were closed. When I called the next day I told them about it and the woman that answered said he must have broke them between there and my house, now I know dogs break their nails as we do sometimes but not all of them. I asked to speak with the manager because this lady was giving every excuse to make it seem as it wasn't their fault. The manager was no different, he said they couldn't have possibly done that and if I didn't like it then to go somewhere else next time. Trust me I sure will! Worst thing is that my dog was in so much pain everytime he stood up or walked, he got infections on 4 of his nails and I had to take him to the vet 3 separate times to have them checked and get medicine for him costing a total of about $175! Needless to say I am furious and Petsmart will never receive my business again.
