We bought a home through Tierr...

We bought a home through Tierra Madre Realty and R. Marie McGee in May 2012. As they say: “Hindsight is 20/20” but we find ourselves writing this review to spare others the misery we encountered working with Marie McGee and Tierra Madre Realty of Albuquerque, NM.

: On to greater issues with Marie… She refused to show us one house in a certain section of town because, and I quote: “There are a lot of Blacks and Hispanics down there.” Again, I should have just reported her to the Board of Realtors and told her how offensive she was being. But due to extenuating circumstances we needed to keep moving forward to get into a house. Once we found a house Marie picked the home inspector without any input from us. The inspector she hired was A & R Home Inspections in Albuquerque. This guy was so bad he didn’t even find a sink drain that wasn’t working. We had to replace or repair 17 electrical outlets, replace a really bad garbage disposal, replaced a ceiling light/fan that was shorting out, replaced an entry doorknob set and wrought iron screen door doorknob set.

Almost every day we find new things wrong with our home. Now, we realize mistakes can happen. However, the owner of A & R Home Inspections was rude when I called him about the problems. I then called Marie McGee AND sent her an email. After four days we heard nothing from Marie. Meanwhile, we’re in our new home with outlets that are a fire hazard, a front door we could not exit from, a garbage disposal that sounded like a 747 taking off….and Marie? Well, she was nowhere to be found. Guess after the commission check was cashed she had no further use for us. I finally left her a voice mail on day 5 stating that if we did not hear from her by noon that day we would have to call her Broker. Since we received no contact from Marie we called her broker. Later that day we did receive an email from Marie McGee. And here it is:

*****Please quit giving me deadlines. I tend to ignore them. I have been in a class from 8:30 to 12:00 today in this case. Please feel free to call my QB at any time.

I will call Ray now and find out what is going on - isn't Ray paying for this electrician to fix all the areas of concern and that's why he is out there today?***

How is that for an extremely unprofessional email?

First, Marie had 4 ½ days prior to this email to contact us regarding the unprofessional and inane job the inspector she chose did on our home. Second, what Realtor admits to ignoring deadlines? I guess after she cashed her commission check Marie felt no responsibility to us. We’ve caught Marie in several white lies along the way. Everything from lying to home sellers as to why we were late in arriving to view their home to telling us her sister used a certain contractor in the past for roofing issues and then turns around a few days later and said she never heard of that particular contractor. Do yourself a favor, if you are looking for a good realtor in Albuquerque spend some time talking with Realtors.

If you are still having thoughts about hiring Marie McGee as your Realtor – re-read her email. Ask yourself if that is whom you’d like on your side if something goes wrong with your new home purchase. And be aware that Tierra Madre and Marie are, to our knowledge, still recommending A & R Home Inspections to their clients.

PS Marie ended up selling us a house RIGHT UNDER the flight path for Southwest Airlines.....she's a real piece of work!
