My Apple head Chihuahua was the victim to a bully. He wouldn't leave her alone. He grabbed her back leg and hurt her. We feared he popped her leg out of the socket. All the vets we called wanted to charge x-rays office visits and a large amount if it needed to be popped back in. I found Ponderosa and they got her in immediately. They understood my financial situation. We took her in and they examined her and put her on a pain med as well as a joint supplement. They charged very little compared to other vets. They told us it was sprained, most likely it was pulled. If we wanted they would do an x-ray and if she didn't seem better by Monday bring her back for an x-ray. She already seems so much better. Thank you staff and vet at Ponderosa.

I’m fortunate to have discovered Ponderosa Animal Clinic, an oasis in the desert of high cost veterinary care facilities. Dr. Johnson and her staff gave my dog extraordinary quality care at a reasonable price. Thank you, Dr. Johnson for your very big heart! I’m relieved to have found the best place possible to take my pet whenever she needs help.

I would not recommend this place to anyone! It may be more affordable than most vets in town, but the staff (Dr. Johnson and her daughter, the receptionist) treat you like second-class citizens and have no customer service skills whatsoever. I have thick skin and can deal with unfriendly people, but these old hags are downright rude not only to customers, but their own vet techs as well, barking orders and belittling them right in front of customers. If you inquire about a procedure Dr. Johnson performed or a diagnosis on your pet, she will frequently act defensive and clam up if she doesn't know the answer. She constantly refers to a vet diagnostic manual throughout the exam. Frankly I don't think she knows what the hell she's doing!

If you want to be treated with any semblance of respect, do not go here! The receptionist is unbelievably rude and totally lacks any kind of people skills. Her arrogant, snippy, "I run this place so like it or lump it" attitude is enough to avoid this establishment at all costs. I also agree with other reviewers about the costs. She requires the payment up front and then when the pet is picked up, there are extra expenses which nearly double the original costs. We easily found another veterinarian's clinic with competent doctors where the people are treated with as much dignity as the animals. Thank goodness!

I think these two people that run this vet clinic are the sweetest and the smartest vets. You can tell how much they love your animals!! They do go by your income with proof if u are dissabled also. Sincerely Cindy

I'm absolutely shocked at any bad reviews of this clinic because Dr. Johnson deeply cares about each and every pet and yes she is direct and gets straight to the point as she is past the age of sugar coating things. My dog had surgery and let me tell you her prices are reasonable. He's had surgery before for twice the amount I paid at Ponderosa. The clinic is a family business and they literally have given their lives to the animals. I don't care what any short-sited, classless and ignorant person on here says, Dr Johnson is going to have a special place in heaven.

I ABSOLUTELY do not suggest going to this clinic!! They told me the charge was going to be $200.-250. When I got there to pay they charged me $450. I had to scrape up money from friends and family to get my dog out. I called and asked what exactly they did for my dog because he still isn't walking!! She HUNG up on me TWICE!! When I questioned about the amount difference she wouldn't answer me I told her I would like an answer she told me she didnt have to explain and HUNG up on me again! I'm on a fixed income and couldn't afford much.. They were VERY RUDE and I honestly don't think they did anything for my dog.. He is still paralysed from his back legs.. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!!! UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME TO SUBMIT I HAVE TO GIVE A STAR..WHICH I WOULD NOT GIVE THEM EVEN HALF A STAR!! BUT I WANT THIS READ SO O HAVE TO GIVE 1 STAR

I have taken my dog for shots there and learned very early on the vet is pretty awful with people she was rude.. but I must admit she was wonderful with my dog and I realize that is what is important.. She doesn't sugar coat any diagnosis and she is blunt and straight to the point..some people are good with people others with animals and she made the correct career choice to be a vet...I've got thick skin I can handle a rude person if they cure my sick dog or help my animal then again that is what is important to me..

I saw some of these posts when I googled the number for this vet so I've come back after my visit with my own take. This was not my regular vet but my vet was not able to work around my schedule when my cat had diarrhea so I called here at a co-worker's suggestion and they told me it was even a more reasonably priced vet as well, that part I cannot speak to as my bill was over $300, but I have no way to compare the services there vs. somewhere else regarding costs as I had never had these tests done before, this medicine administered, etc.. However, my cat is one of those cats, the kind that isn't just scared when they go to the vet, she literally loses her mind, she is virtually impossible to examine. She screams, she bites, she scratches, she flips backwards, anything you can think of, just completely unmanageable and I have to say this vet and her staff could not have been more patient, gentle and kind to my cat even though she was literally eating them alive. She is always bad when she goes but she has never had things this invasive done and I suspect most vets would have asked me to leave and tell my they just can't treat her, but not here. This will be my new regular vet. I've never been so impressed. It

These Drs. and their staff are wonderful. The Drs. are deeply invested in their patients. If you want top notch care for your pet this is the place to take them. The fees are reasonable for phenomenal care. Truly invested in the best for your pet. The vets have a wealth of knowledge and access to state of the art resources should a consult be necessary. Definitely devoted to maintaining highest quality of care!!
