Urgent Care Centers

Here's the short version: they prescribed medication that made my infection worse, they ran every test except the one I asked them to run, they took 8 hours to call me back when I told them the medication was making it worse, then they refused to correct their mistake unless I came in again and paid them again. DO NOT GO HERE unless you have no other option.



Longer version: My wife and I both came down with an infection. I went to this urgent care early in the morning. They took samples to run a bunch of cultures and prescribed medication for what they suspected it was, telling me that if I didn't feel better by that night, I'd have to wait for the cultures to see what I had. The cultures would take 2-3 days. I specifically told them what I thought I had and they said that it was unlikely, but the tests would let them know if that were the case. The next morning, I called because not only was I not feeling better, I was actually feeling worse. Turns out the medication they prescribed is known to make the infection I told them I had worse. They took EIGHT HOURS to return my call, whereupon they told me all the tests they'd run were negative. I asked if they'd run the one I requested and they said no, but if I wanted to come in again, they'd do so, and if it came back positive, then they would prescribe the right medication. So they ignored me the first time and expected me to pay them again and wait 2 days for the right meds.



For comparison, my wife went to the UNM student health center and got the correct medication immediately. So this place is worse than a college health center.
