This Garcia's is very different from the others located around Albuquerque. I have to say we walked in expecting the same service and food. We were quickly shown service is no where remotely the same as the other restaurants. our waitress to star did not greet us or seem very happy to be working today. To emphasize this her first words to us were "what do you want?". This in my opinion is not a good way to start. aside from that once she took our order she never walked back to see how we were doing or to bring our chips n salsa. Which never received. it was as though she forgot about us. But I must say the thing that irritated me most was the service and attention she was giving other customers. she was very un professional. my recommendations would be to go to another Garcias because although the service is horrible here the food and the price are worth it at other Garcias.
Lindo Mexico does Mexican right! Incredible fajitas! Excellent service. Always fast, always quality! Great prices also. I go at least once a week. They have an amazing Mariachi band that plays every Sunday at 3pm. They also have Cantadores (singers) that play guitar and sing songs by request every Friday and Saturday night (I think from 6-7pm). My kids love this place! Try the fajitas special if you have a large group. My kids love throwing coins in the fountain in the middle of the restaurant. Granted, the front hostess is beautiful and wears tight clothing, but she is not flirtatious and is very nice. All of the other servers wear nice uniform Mexican clothing.
In Albuquerque first Fri of Balloon Fiesta. Have eaten at Cervantes off and on for over 20 years. This was the last time. Food good but not exceptional. Drinks good with large selection of tequela for the margaritas. We were a party of five. My wife and I split one entree as we were not too hungry. When the bill came we were charged TWO extra plate charges and an 18% tip was added to the bill. When I asked the manager on duty about TWO extra plate charges was told their charge was low ((most establishments of this level have NONE). That attitude does not deserve my business again, after being a customer for two plus decades!!!!
I started with the Iced Tea of course that was filled promptly, then moved on to the Guacamole and Chips very tasty, I didn't think I was going to be able to eat anymore! However, I had a Green Chile Stuffed Sopapilla Platter that was to die for. I even used the chips to finish the last of the meat and chile remaning on the plate. At the end finished up with a warm sopapilla and honey to cool off from the Green Chile. The service time was a bit long hardly noticed though to busy with the Guacamole, and the staff casually dressed, but the Food was Great! Definitely coming back it was worth the wait, and the price was fine.
My first visit here I waited 25 minutes and not one soul acknowledged I was seated. I walked out. I complained and the owner asked me to please come back. I did, the food is amazing. Owner comped the meal to my surprise. I am.back again because the food is that good AND this time the owner doesn't know I'm here. Well, 15 minutes and no service at all. Other tables are getting service, oh wait I am just one person at my table. Ohhhh 20 minutes now and chips and salsa have been put on my table. No water, no waiter. I have asked for a waiter....lets see how long it takes or am I walking out again?
I used the drive-up for a purchase, one item...they got it wrong...in trying to call them, their line was busy time after time. There were no special instructions and I recall they did not repeat the order. The order I received was not the order I received...not even close! I have been to this drive up before and had problems from time to time. Ordering items not received etc. When I finally reached the manager today, he offered to write down my name and replace the item next time.
The Santo Domingo Indian Trading Post is a lovely shop, located in the heart of 'Old Town', Albuquerque New Mexico. My first visit was in April of 2008 during the Gathering of Nations Pow Wow, along with my sister and cousin. The lady that assisted us was Mary. She was very knowledgable and helpful. She helped me find a beautifully unique atntique pendant an d allowed me to make payments from Canada. I look forward to going back during the 2009 Gathering of Nations!
We arrived this morning at 9:45am. Atmosphere was very nice and restaurant empty. Restaurant is suppose to open at 8:00am. But at 9:45am they weren't ready to serve customers. We ordered soppapillas and they informed us that there oil and grill were not ready to serve food. Been here before and food is good. But it's very disappointing that a restaurant that's suppose to be open at 8:00am is not ready to serve customers at 9:55am.
I have been a fan of Dos Hermanos for years. They really have good breakfast burritos. Lately, I noticed that their prices have sky rocketed. The other morning I got my usual (Breakfast burrito smothered in green) and it was well over 9 dollars. I asked for a complimentary water and they charged me 50 cents more. Ikes ten dollars for a breakfast burrito? They may scare people away with their new price structure.
A visit to Albuquerque's Old Town Plaza isn't complete without lunch or dinner at La Placita. Located in an old hacienda right on the square, La Placita offers traditional New Mexican food and good service at a reasonable price. And the large dining rooms means customers rarely have to wait for a table. My favorite is the stuffed sopapilla with green chile sauce.
