Dougherty County Jail is a more than 1,240-plus-bed pretrial facility that offers inmate housing and administrative services. It has staff of a magistrate judge and assistant district attorney. The jail features a training division that provides classes on local, area and state law enforcement agencies. Dougherty County Jail also features a laundry room and warehouse facility and provides over 3,400 meals per day. The jail offers finance, personnel, maintenance and system support services. It is a part of the City of Albany-Dougherty County, which features planning and development, finance, fire, recreation and parks, human resources, information technology, engineering and public works departments.
