I took my husband to the E.R. on Jan.11,2019.I took him because of all the water on his legs.They did some test and told me he had Bronchtis and they said for him to keep taking his water pills,he also has alzheimers. I beg them to keep him because I knew he would do nothing they said for him to.By tuesday he was a lot worse I got him out to the driveway to take him back to the hospital he died before I could get him in the car.If they had of listen to me my husband would be alive today.This E.R. should be shut down.You never let someone with alzheimers make their own mind up that he could come home, They did not listen to a word I said.Very bad E.R. doctors and I want to say Thank-you so very much on my husband dieing it is your fault.

When you crawl in the door after your return from the hospital,and the phone is ringing before you get into your home, is probably billing wanting money. This happened to me. I paid $250 on admission, and was in hospital for 8 days. I struggled to get to the phone and sure enough it was billing. Lady on the phone sounded like Monte Hall and offered me a deal. She said we are offering you a deal today only. If your pay $1219.00 today, that will be giving you a $300 discount. I said sure, and gave her my credit card info. Amazingly now after about 3 months, they have been sending me a bill for almost $300. Dont fall for this "deal" like I did. Have called them and after holding awhile, a recording says to leave name and number and hey guarantee a call back within 24 hours. That has not happened either.

Have used this hospital since 1969, and have had above average service every time. Have had some ups and some downs, but only minor complaints. Discussed them with the appropriate staff members, and took care of the problem. They are not mind readers, and when service is not up to expectations, management needs to know. It appears more need to speak up when expectations are not met. The lead/charge nurse on the floor, the Director of Nursing, or usually the the administrator or assistant can handle any problem. It's the same in. Any organization, some times it needs fine tuning.

This is quite possibly the absolute worst hospital in the WORLD... They treat you like you are their property. Even the police there.told me and I quote, "as long as you are on this land, you are PROPERTY of this hospital". I ain't never been property of any thing or any one. And to think there is only 1 doctor available, yet no rooms, cause there all full. Whoever runs this hospital should be flogged, and that round boy police should be demoted to doggie duty.
And the only reason they get 1 star is cause this thing makes you. They get a negative 5 stars in my opinion.

They took Great care of my husband and listened to his needs and did what he asked them In a very timely manner . Would come back

My husband had a heart procedure here (03/16). We are still paying on the bill, BUT the worse part is, we are still (09/16) fighting a horrible bed bug infestation he brought home from there. As for the service, they were very uncaring and ignored my husband when he was having horrible pain! He started throwing up, so someone ran in the room, handed him a bag to throw up in, then ran out if the room! No one came back to check on him for about an hour and a half. I was so glad I stayed to take care of him!

Great service. Wife had knee replacement there. I had several heart procedures during the past five years plus Gaul bladder removal.

it was awful i hate to have to go there they dont help anyone an they charged my insurance all kinds of money an didnt do crap to help me they are lazy liars that act like they dont want to even touch anybody its a shame cause they use to be a great hospital 18 years ago when i had my only child there the only good doctor there is malcome simmons...they kill more then they heal an thats the gods honest truth

This is the WORST.. Hospital I have ever. Been in.. The wait time is HORRIBLE.. My sons physician sent us here due to possible blood clot!!!!... We have been waiting for over an hour to get seen.. If you have an emergency you will wait!!! This old Man conplaining of heart attack related problems was told to have a seat.. Are you kidding me. Only reason im not leaving is because blood clots can travel to the brain. God forbid something happen he can be saved.. DONT COME HERE!!!!

I had surgery here last month, and with 32 years of healthcare experience including a postgraduate degree and state license, this is the worst hospital experience that I have ever had in my lifetime. I will NEVER go back again.

The killed my mother. LITERALLY. After their obvious negligence... the Nurse refused to show me her badge and tell me her name. All my mother needed was blood, and they refused it. She walked into the hospital dizzy and left in a body bag! When I contacted the laywer, I was told, Shelby hospital had several pending lawsuits.. way too many to count. I would NOT suggest going to this hosiptal. If you have a broken ankle, I still would not suggest it. You may NEVER come out breathing.

My husband has had 3 surgeries at this hospital and we were very pleased with the staff here. The doctors were kind, informative and concerned as well as the nurses. We are thankful for everyone there.

i have a half mind to sue shelby they are the worst hopital ever. i went there for really really bad stomach pains and they told me they could not find anything all they did was draw blood no other kind of test done i was in so much pain . so i leave and next day my husband took me to another ER and come to find out i had a ovarian cyst to rupture and was bleeding internal

Had a heart-attack driving down I-65 from Mobile,Al. Lost don't. Know where a hospital is,scared,upset,hurting,my wife found SBMC. They treated us like they had known us all our lives. They found out what the problem was,had me upstairs to deal with it in a matter of minutes. Put me in click for 2 days and we're like angels had sent to me and my wife.Dr.Chapman and everyone that worked.on me 7/10/14 @12:30 pm Thank you for saving my life.

Terrible service. Went with a seizure, dislocated shoulder, and sprained ankle. Waited 4 hours for them to do anything and all they did was give me one Tylenol and confirm what I already knew. It's worth the time to drive to UAB(or anywhere else) if possible. This place is a joke and obviously doesn't care about their patients!!!

I came to the ER room with my friend because he had alcohol poisoning. (he's not proud of it) he also has type 1 diabetes. We waited in the waiting room for two hours. He decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and check his blood sugar (he was not comprehending things and drinking a lot of water) his blood sugar level came back HIGH which means it was over 500. (Normal blood sugar level is around 120 depending on the person.) and we also realized we left his insulin at his apartment but then thought well this is a hospital they must have some right? Well we have been here over 5 hours the front desk employee didn't even know how to give insulin, they brought him back to a room and took his blood samples, and went to get them tested to the blood lab. The funniest part, when the Doctor came in to figure out what our reasoning for being here was he said that he didn't look dehydrated at all and that he didn't think he needed anymore, he didn't even know he was diabetic. They then didn't give him insulin after sitting in the room for 3 hours (not good for a person who is insulin dependent) we are now baffled because of how much insulin they are wanting to give him. He has had diabetes for 13 years now and only once had he had to take this high of a dosage and that was also a past experience at Shelby where he then dropped past low on his blood sugar levels.. All of this to say don't ever bring anyone to the ER they seriously don't know what their talking about!

The doctors are terrible! My father has been there for over two weeks! Will never go here again rather drive to Birmingham or go to brookwood than here!

I had to get a simple appendectomy but the arab doctor who is probably illegal had to be complicated and ive been in here for a week almost dying. The nurces are horrible too, Mean, and wont give me my pain meds. and the dumb nurse blew up my stomach with the stomach pump and we cant get the air out! Hallejuah for THIS PLACE! THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY!

My mom had surgery at this hospital over 13 years ago and is still going.
