Salsa tastes like someone washed onions and served the left over water. Ground beef is watery. Small portions. Carrots, potatoes, and zucchini in the rice? Cold, tacky, uncomfortable atmosphere. Not very clean. Bathroom door did not even having functioning lock. Wish there was something good to say, but I've not found a worse Mexican restaurant in the area. On top of all that, would not allow use of coupon after having already eaten.
My husband and I love Mexican food (I especially love the Strawberry Margaritas, lol). When we lived in Alabaster before Sol Azteca was our thing. 1 or 2 x's a week easy. The portions great n marg awesome and $$ worth every penny. We moved to Calera and had to go to Zaps. The owner is a jerk, the food is good portions so so. Marg kept me coming back. Well I no longer have to give King Attitude Alex my hard earned money that he clearly doesn't appreciate. A new love has opened where White House Cafas. They're Marg are excellent, the food portions are great and the prices are reasonable. Not saying they better than the other two, but closer than Sol and just as good in all ways as Zaps. Only the owner is a really nice guy that I don't mind giving my money to. He is appreciative and very friendly as well as accommodating. The item I wanted they prepared different and I was afraid. I asked him to tell me the difference and since I still didn't seem convinced, he went to the kitchen and had them prepare it my way at no extra charge. I left feeling as if I had enjoyed dinner with a friend. Osmond at Sol Azteca will tell you that this will win you loyalty over 'crack margaritas' any day. Please give them a chance. Let's teach Mr. 'All That Alejandro' that he is not the only place with a good margarita and that personality goes a long way in the PUBLIC SERVICE industry.
