A little over a year ago, I went out to One of a Kind Pets with my two siblings to buy our first puppy for the family. After looking at the different dogs, we finally settled on one and asked to fill out an application. While I was doing that, a lady was sent out to talk to me.
She asked me basic questions, like how old I was and what not, but after a while she started putting me in the average teenage stereotype, I felt.
She assumed I was dating my brother and started telling me how couples often break up and the puppies are abandoned. I explained he was my brother and the dog would be a family pet, not one to be shared with a significant other.
She continued with her series of questions and then told me they'd have to call my parents to make sure it was okay. I pulled out my phone, ready to call but then she changed her answer. She said he'd actually have to come in because ' I could just be calling anyone.'
I felt because I was 18 at the time and with my two siblings, her mind was made up the minute I walked in the door. They say you have to be 18 to buy the animal, but that was obviously not the case. I didn't return to the store with a parent because I was so disgusted with the way I was treated. I know they want to find a perfect home for their animals, but I feel I should have been treated with a little more respect for the trip I took to get there.
I bought a puppy at a different place shortly after and we've had her for almost a year now. She is doing just fine and recieving lots of love from her new family!
I wouldn't recommend anyone go to One of a Kind Pets after my experience there.

The first time I took my 1 year old dog there to be neutered. When I went to pick him up I noticed he was limping and they said this was 'normal' and just to keep and eye on him. The next day the inner part of his leg was swollen and filled with blood. I tried calling the emergency line but no one answered or returned my calls. Sunday morning, he was lethargic, even more blood was filling his leg, his gums were white as a sheet. I continued to call the emergency line and NO ONE ANSWERED or RETURNED MY CALLS. I had to get a hold of someone that I knew worked at the adoption center at the time and had to rush him to the emergency vet. They ended up having to do a second operation to see if something wasn't closed right. One of A Kind did pay for the extra care he had to have, but I almost lost my best friend. Fast forward to now. I adopted an older dog, 10 years old, and he needed to be neutered. He came home with kennel cough, and now they both have it. NEVER go there again.

My 4 older dogs were neutered at my vet's office but I recently had my 6 month old puppy neutered here. He had dark bruising around the entire area in the days after his surgery and then started coughing and hacking. He got kennel cough as he was too young for the vaccine at that time. My other 4 are vaccinated but all got it too BC the vaccine doesn't cover every strain. After a $400 vet bill, antibiotics, and cough meds they are finally all doing better. I wish I would have just paid extra to have him neutered at Valley Animal Hospital like my others.

The first time I went there they were great but this last time I took my two kittens and it went well but when I paid my bill it was more then I thought when I called they charged more for three cats and pretty much blamed it on me and was very rude that they had to give me my money back even though I am the one who had to drive 30 minute to get the money back on my card

As far as I could tell, they treated my labradoodle well, but the place absolutely reeks! It smelled like a zoo where no one has cleaned the animal cages in weeks. And my dog smelled just like that as we brought her home from being spayed (we just got home). There was some kind of "kah kah" on her backside that smelled just like the clinic did. I know it's probably hard to keep things clean with all those animals, but it shouldn't be this bad if they're cleaning like they should & it makes me a little worried about infection, so we'll see. For this reason, I'm not sure if I would recommend it.

We had such a wonderful experience at One of A Kind. They rescue all of their animals before they are euthanized, and we are impressed. We adopted 2 cats here, and the staff was overly friendly and answered all of our questions. It is an incredible facility; I recommend them to all my friends!

I haven't quite figured out this place yet. It says they are a rescue and help rescue animals - but they don't take any animals in and if you take an animal there to get fixed, you never know what you will get charged. In the waiting room to drop off - which was very inconvenient at 6:30 AM, it seemed like everyone was getting told a different price. Lots of cats get dumped by me (near a golf course) so I have been there a bunch of times and I never know what to expect as far as price - but I sure don't see them helping me in any way. I have read they offer special deals, but some how - I never qualify - nor does anyone else waiting to drop off at 6:30 AM with me.

I have been trying for days to reach someone to reschedule an appointment. I have left several messages on their voicemail with no return calls. Very aggravating!
