We've put together a small list to get you started on your journey -- and the first step starts with a single box.
The delivery of my articles was completely free from all sorts of hassle. So, I thought it necessary to write a review over the entire program of my relocation. Prior to my residential re positioning, I used to put my information on the pages of internet. I used to get plenty of calls as well as mails from several moving companies. Moreover, I gave buzz to those companies which left voicemails for me and started discussing with the company representatives. After a brief greeting, the consultants of those companies started informing me of various aspects of their service. Not only that, I also communicated with several companies through e-mails. Thus, I gathered a lot of information over numerous moving companies. Having explained all the information, I decided to select Green Van Lines for my move. Ultimately, I felt that my decision was absolutely correct. Right now, I do not have enough time to go for an illustrated review over Green Van Lines but I can give vent to my opinion in a nutshell. I was pleased with their service. It was a nice experience which will be kept in my remembrance for ever. During the relocation, I queried for hidden charges. They informed me that there was no hidden charge. I attached credence with them but my wife was quite skeptical of whatever they informed us regarding hidden charge. She told me to get ready for that because the deduction would become evident after the move on the moment of clearing the payment. Having heard it, I was quite baffled. When the move was over, my worries were gone. I paid the exact amount of which I was informed earlier by the consultant of Green Van Lines. No hidden charge, nothing else. My wife also gathered a new experience over a moving company like Green Van Lines. Actually, most of us believe that a moving company will definitely impose charges unnecessarily but there are some exceptions. Yes, Green Van Lines is an ideal instance of that sort of moving companies who prioritize clients’ satisfaction to their profit. I am fond of them, believe them and wish all the best for them.
Green Van Lines assisted me a lot during the relocation to my new condominium. Yes, it was a completely different experience in my life. Prior to the move, the concept of moving was not clear to me. The first moving company whom I met for the first time was Green Van Lines. Right now, if anyone asks me to mention the name of a moving company, I am sure that I would not be able to mention the name of any mover except Green Van Lines. During my move, I promised the fellows from Green Van Lines about writing an eulogistic review on them as a token of thanks after the completion of my relocation. Now I am done with the move and I am so satisfied with the move that I have decided to write a review. Right now, my move has already been done. Therefore, I am writing the review to eulogize them. The representative who was on the spot to lead the whole team was a joy to work with. He was helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and responsible. I also noticed that all the details of my items were revealed in the presence of me. The price charged for the move was exactly the same as the amount informed earlier. These incidents signified their transparency. Yes , that’s really a note-worthy point. Nowadays, there are a lot of moving companies strewn in the market. They are shelling out plenty of bucks for advertisements with a view to enticing people. Most of the movers are treading the same path. People are getting attracted to those who are showing more stun through the advertisements. By this way, a group of dishonest movers are working in the market. They are getting deviated from what they promised to the clients. Their objective is to rake in money and garner profit – not to serve people. Green Van Lines is not a company of that sort. They believe that clients’ satisfaction is the back-bone of a business. Profit is sequel to the clients’ satisfaction. Therefore, they always concentrate on the clients. That is the main reason for which they have become so popular among people throughout the country. I wish a better tomorrow for Green Van Lines.
My move has recently been over. It was successful. The job for conducting the move was assigned to Green Van Lines. On the day of move, Green Van Lines guys showed up in time. They started packing with the materials they brought. When they were in full swing with their work, I went to a different location to take rest. I did not monitor whatever they were doing and let them pursue their work freely. They worked throughout the day without any sort of recess. In the evening, Green Van Lines finished the move about a half an hour earlier. I was taken aback at the pace they maintained. I decided to check whether they did everything properly. Having checked the inventory once, I got stunned. Everything was fine. No damage. I had nothing but to remain dumbstruck when I came to know of the level of their perfection. Beyond comment. How was it possible for them to accomplish everything impeccably despite working so fast? It was a great question which haunted me a lot. After having an acquaintance with them, I came to know of the reason for which they were able to serve people in a better way. Client friendly behavior, quicker and flawless service are the most significant characteristics of Green Van Lines. When I received the bill, I was getting scared of having a glimpse over the box where the amount of the price is written. I thought that it would be a hefty one but most fortunately it was not so. The price that I had to pay after the move was the same of which I was informed earlier. There was no confusion. Nothing fishy. Everything was as clear as crystal. I enjoyed a happy moving. I do not have sufficient words to express my gratitude but I will definitely recommend Green Van Lines to my closed ones. I am writing this review to make people informed of them. If I go for any sort of moving in future, I will surely choose Green Van Lines. They are the best. I have the utmost good faith on them.
Due to some freaking noise issue coming out from a small workshop downstairs, I felt the urgent need of moving out of our old residence quickly. As planned I mailed Green Van Lines movers, requesting a moving date and a quote. Derek, the head representative responded to my concern and managed to squeeze us on the date I requested. He was gracious enough and answered numerous questions which I asked them. The move itself went extremely well! The crew of four showed up well before the scheduled time and they all worked quickly and efficiently to get all of our stuffs loaded into their moving vehicle. Once everything was packed up, they met us over at our new residence and unpacked all of our belongings just as efficiently as possible. They were all very helpful and considerate, asking where we wanted the furniture and boxes to be placed. The entire move took less than three hours and everything arrived safe and in good condition. Guys, if its urgent, its Green Van Lines!
When the quote was received from Green Van Lines, I started comparing the quote with that of other moving companies. It became clear to me that the price quoted by Green Van Lines was the most pocket-friendly. Having come to know of it, I got interested about Green Van Lines and ultimately opted for them. It is a reputed company. Therefore, a premium service can be ensured. I got rid of all sorts of worries about moving from the moment I had resorted to Green Van Lines. They showed up on time, took the challenge and started working. They wrapped and packed all my items and delivered them to the right destination with the greatest responsibility and utmost sincerity. I was very satisfied with them. My crystal glass ware was also shifted with care. My furniture was also kept safely. Apart from moving, Green Van Lines helped me a lot with their guidance and for that they charged not a single penny. Thanks Green Van Lines. Hats off to you.
Green Van Lines is a perfectly green company. They use bio-degradable materials for packing. Not only that, their vehicles are run by bio-diesel. Thus, they are always in pursuit of keeping environmental standards. When I chose Green Van Lines for my move, I observed all these in them. Their service was awesome. Apart from service, their contribution to the environment made me overwhelmed with wonder. They planted 10 saplings during my move. I asked them of the reason of planting saplings. They informed me that it was the part of their program. They were green by nature and so they encouraged afforestation by planting trees. They believe that planting trees can make environment free from pollution. I learnt a good lesson from them. We will not be able to exist without environment and so we should take care of it. I will remember Green Van Lines because I learnt a lot from them about the ways of keeping greenery safe.
I really had an awesome move with Green Van Lines movers while moving from Texas to Oklahoma. From the beginning, mover was professional and more accommodating. Jason, the moving representative came out to survey my apartment within a few days of my call, and gave me a reasonable estimate. I was even able to negotiate with them a little bit on the final price, and I was impressed that they were willing to work with me on that.On the day of loading, the movers showed up a couple of hours earlier than scheduled and had everything loaded and wrapped in nearly 3 hours. My shipment arrived right on time and I found everything intact. They picked up on February 4 and delivered my items on February 10. I had to delay delivery a couple of days because of my work schedule. I was afraid I would get charged a storage fee for the extra days, but they didn't charge anything. Delivery went very smoothly. All the Best Guys!
Green Van Lines moved our belongings with care as well as assisted us a lot to enjoy a stressful day with pleasure to our heart’s content. I preferred Green Van Lines to other moving companies because they help customers prepare and plan move. They make sure that the customer understands the pricing and insurance options clearly. The person thoroughly itemized the items to be moved ahead of time so that all the items to be moved are accounted for. They don’t use the antiquated system of charging by weight or cubic foot, rather they just charge a flat rate based on the amount of stuffs that one needs to move. The professionals offer comprehensive moving tips to guide them through the preparation of move. What I found so good about them is that since nobody wants any surprise charges, so once a move is in progress, I appreciate their professional experience. I will definitely recommend this mover to everyone.
We booked for Green Van Lines for our move. People sent from Green Van Lines were tall and strong. They conducted the entire move easily and nicely. They had a tight grasp over topologic concepts and they successfully made use of their subtle concepts while shifting articles during my move. I observed them with rapt attention. They carried out the entire relocation in a planned and scientific way. All the heavy items were shifted so carefully that I was not able to find out a single scratch over them after the move. How cautious they were! After the move, the representative of Green Van Lines called me and wanted to know whether the move was done properly. I expressed my gratitude and also let them know how satisfied i was. I was very happy with them. Plenty of service at reasonable price. It has been made possible only with the Midas Touch of Green Van Lines. I wish them all the best in the coming days.
I came to know about Green Van Lines from my Girlfriend. Since, I didn’t have any prior moving experience, so I was bit hesitant in selecting the mover. Co-incidentally my girlfriend was also preparing to move at that time and for that she hired Green Van Lines. She suggested me that if Green Van Lines did a commendable job for her, then she would certainly recommend them to me. Well, she received all her items at her desired destination safely and having been pleased with their performance she referred the name of Green Van Lines. I contacted the mover immediately over phone, following the contact details and after a long hour conversation I decided to hire their services. The movers arrived bit early did a superb job. Be it wrapping, loading, unloading and reassembling-everything was done with a professional touch. My items reached safe and unhurt and there was no hidden costs in the quote.
Every move is different, so it's vital to choose a moving company that's right for you. The first consideration you should make when hiring these professionals is how far you're moving.
Depending on the moving company, local moves are typically anywhere between one and 100 miles within the same state. Local moves are less complicated to plan, both for you and the movers you decide to hire. They're typically priced based on how much you need to move, how many movers the company plans to provide and how long the job is estimated to take.
Long-Distance and Interstate Moves
Even if you're staying in the same state, you may still technically be planning a long-distance move - though the exact mileage varies by moving company, these are typically moves that are more than 50 to 100 miles long or across state or country lines. In fact, even if you're moving within the same state but you have to go through another state or country first, it's likely considered an interstate move, rather than a local one. That's because the movers are technically transferring items between state lines, which means they'll be responsible for having the correct licensing and insurance in place.
Long-distance moves are much more complicated to plan, typically requiring you to pay numerous extra expenses for everything from shipping items to renting storage space.
Are you making a big move and trying to figure out exactly how much you should plan to spend? Or are you on a tight budget and looking to hire a mover who can keep costs low? Either way, it's important to understand how exactly moving companies charge their customers.
As mentioned above, for local moves, companies will charge based on the number of movers they provide and the amount of time they'll need to spend on the project. Generally, the more rooms in your apartment or house, the more movers and time you can expect to be charged for. The price of long-distance or interstate moves, on the other hand, will be based on the amount of belongings you have - and more specifically the weight of those belongings. The heavier the boxes or items you're shipping across state or country lines, the more expensive your move will be.
Moving costs will vary greatly, depending on where you are. Local moves in a small town in the Midwest will be much less expensive than comparable moves in New York City. For that reason, it's best to do some research about the going rates in your area.
No matter what type of move you're making, you can reach out to prospective moving companies for estimates - this is the best way to determine how expensive your move will be based on where you live and what services you're looking for. Typically, the moving company will send someone to your home who will do a walk through of each room, making note of the furniture, valuables and other belongings in each one. Then, he or she will provide an estimate. The exact amount you pay may, however, be different from the amount declared in the estimate. That's where the type of contract comes in.
Nonbinding vs. Binding Contracts
For any move, a company will ask you to sign a contract. It's crucial to know exactly what type of contract you're signing, though, to understand how much you can expect to pay. In basic terms, there are two types of moving contracts: binding and nonbinding. Binding, as well as binding not-to-exceed, contracts are the most preferable for people hiring movers. These list an estimated price the moving company cannot charge more than. So, even if your local move takes an hour longer or your belongings are heavier than expected for an interstate move, you're still only responsible for paying a fixed amount.
Nonbinding contracts, on the other hand, have no fixed final number. Instead, they list a rate - by the hour or by the pound/kilo - and you're responsible for paying exactly how much your move costs in those terms.
Keep in mind that movers provide a variety of services, many of which you may not require. These can affect how expensive your move will be. For example, a full-service move that includes packing and unpacking will be pricier than a local move that only includes loading the truck, driving it to the new home and unloading it.
For any move, there may be extra costs beyond the typical services offered. If you're asking your movers to transport large, hard-to-move items, like pianos, for instance, you'll likely pay an extra fee. Likewise, if your apartment building doesn't have an elevator or the truck has to be parked far from your home, you may be charged extra. Ask about these potential expenses when signing your contract.
Don't rush through the process of hiring a moving company. Make sure the movers you hire are dependable, reputable and the right fit for your needs.
Look for Reviews and Recommendations
When hiring movers, it's a good idea to both look at reviews online and ask your friends and family members for recommendations. Personal endorsements will go a long way toward helping you determine whether you can expect the company to do a quick and professional job.
Choose Top Candidates
As you're vetting candidates through reviews and recommendations, narrow your selection to three or four top options. Make sure the companies offer the type of move you're looking for, whether it's interstate or local. These three or four companies are who you'll contact for estimates.
Don't Be Afraid to Ask Questions
After receiving estimates, you'll have a better idea which companies are within your budget. However, this isn't the only factor you should use when choosing movers, especially for more complicated jobs. In fact, you may be willing to pay a little more to hire quality movers who can ensure the safety of your belongings. Don't be afraid to call these companies and ask questions.
During the hiring process, you want to make sure of three things: First, that the moving company is reputable and has the proper licensing and insurance. Second, that the movers are dependable, professional and committed to doing the job correctly. Finally, that the estimate provided is binding and that you're aware of any potential excess costs. With these factors in mind, here are some of the most important questions to ask a moving company:
As with any service profession, there are certain moving companies - though they are few and far between - that aren't reputable or that will try to take advantage of you. It's important to be able to recognize a scam if you come across one.
Call the FMCSA
For long-distance or interstate moves, you can easily check that companies have the proper licensing and insurance, which is a clear indication that they're legitimate. All interstate moving companies must be registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, so call 888-368-7238 to confirm the licenses, insurance and credentials of the movers you're considering. The FMCSA can also tell you if any complaints have been filed against a particular moving company.
Check with the American Moving and Storage Association
For both local and long-distance moving companies, AMSA is another good place to check out a company's legitimacy. Moving companies aren't required to be an AMSA member, but the ones that are have committed to the association's rules and regulations, which protect both the companies and the consumers hiring them. If a company isn't an AMSA member, that doesn't mean it isn't reputable, but an AMSA membership is a clear indication of legitimacy.
One of the most common fears people face when moving to a new home is that something they own will be lost or damaged in the process. While no company will be able to guarantee everything arrives safely, there are steps you can take to make damage less likely.
Pack and Transport Your Valuables
If you have items that are emotionally or financially valuable to you, do your best to pack and move them yourself. Keep jewelry, expensive artwork, inherited valuables and even costly electronics in your own car - that way you'll have complete control over their safety at all times.
Choose a Moving Company That Plans Ahead
Moving companies can better keep your belongings safe when the movers plan ahead. What does this mean? Many companies take extra time to measure doorways, halls and stairways to find the safest route in and out of your home. They should also provide furniture blankets, covers and moving pads to keep both your home and your belongings free of scratches or other damage.
Keep the Moving Area Safe
There are some things you can control on moving day and some things you simply can't, such as the weather. If you're moving on a snowy, icy or rainy day, keeping all of your paths, stairways and walkways clear and dry is crucial. This can help protect both the movers and the large items they're carrying to and from the truck.
The subject of tipping is relatively unclear when it comes to movers. However, there is a general rule of thumb that most people in the industry agree on: Tip your movers if they've done a good job and you think a tip is warranted.
Generally, a 5 percent tip is considered appropriate, though some people recommend paying $20 per day, per mover for basic, local moves. However, almost everyone agrees you should first do a quick walk-through of your home to check for any damage to your furniture or belongings and to make sure everything is where you'd like it to be.
If you do decide to give a tip, divide it evenly and give money to each individual, rather than giving the entire sum to the head mover and expecting it to be doled out equally. One type of tip to avoid: alcohol. It's usually illegal for movers to have bottles of alcohol in the truck or van, so tipping a bottle of wine or liquor could get them into trouble.
