Terrible Conditions

Like many of you have already stated, this place should not be in business. I went into the store a few days ago to just purchase a toy for my dog. I have never been in the store before and was shocked at what I saw when I walked in. The place was dirty, disorganized, smelled of feces and quite frankly was disgusting. I have never in my life been to a pet store that was in this condition before. Aside from the dirty floors and shelves, one of the two workers was sitting on the floor while the other just stood there. They never said hello or asked if I needed anything. Great customer service. As I glanced around for toys I heard cries coming from the back. I walked to the back and saw something I never want to see again. It is always sad to see animals in cages but these poor animals were sitting in their tiny cages that were filled with feces, no water and you could tell most if not all were very unhealthy. I heard two of them coughing and wheezing and making noises that no healthy dog would make. I could only stand to view this for about 30 seconds and then I had to leave the store.
I not only went home to research this store but I contacted the village of Addison and the Department of Agriculture/Animal Welfare. After I filed a report I called the store and asked to speak to the owner. Unfortunately, he was not in so I called back the next day. The owner, Pete was rude and not only yelled at me but hung up on me. He said I should have reported it to the people working there. When I said I didn't last more than 2 minutes in his store and that I couldn't stand to be in there, he laughed and said that was ridiculous. I told him if he cleaned up the store perhaps he might get more business and get people to buy those poor animals and get them out of the poor conditions they are currently in. Obviously, he didn't want to hear the truth, so he hung up on me.
Hopefully, enough people will report this guy and put him out of business.

What are they doing to these dogs??????

What are these people doing to these dogs?????? I walked in this store early on a Saturday morning. No sound at all in the store, except for one dog ""in the back"" crying. Mr. Farmer owner goes in the back, comes back out and says, ""There, that should do it, it's too early for that"". What exactly did he do back there? I then proceeded to walk to the glass wallled cages with their little signs that say, ""don't tap on glass"". So, I started tapping on all the cages and not one dog woke up. Hmm..puppies in the cages who looked underfed, stools in some of the cages, mangled hair, etc. That seems pretty odd to me that not ONE puppy woke up with all my tapping on the glass. Now that's just the owners of this horrible place. Everyone knows these dogs are from puppy mills. It's the year 2010 people, these puppies are for profit only. I don't care how long someone has been in business, that just shows how long they have gotten away with it. They are lying to you when they tell you these dogs come from reputable breeders. Be a hero, save a life, adopt don't shop!

By the time I went to this petstore i wanted to cry! All the animals were so depressed looking and it smelled horrible in there! Half the puppies were sleeping in there own feces, then the 2 gini pigs I saw had no hair! and None of the animals had water! There was an old man and another middle aged man sitting up at the register reading magazines when I was in there, they never bothered to great me or seem to take care of the animals. After doing some investigating I found out this place has a LONG HISTORY OF GETTING TICKETED FOR THROWING DEAD PUPPIES IN THE GARBAGE CAN!!!! Who could do this???? And what kind of petstore would be constantly dealing with dead puppies???? Please do not go here, buying this pets will NOT save them it will only put more animals in danger, this place needs to be clossed down.

Sick Animals

First of all I would like to make sure not one other person purchases an animal from this pet shop again. I bought a beautiful kitten from Pete's Petland last friday, when I took him to the vet to get him checked out, the kitten had been malnurished and dehydrated, along with that mess the kitten had the flu and was extremely sick. Im actually glad that I found that kitten at this horrible place before he got sicker then when i got him, because he probably would have died if i didnt take him home with me. along with the sick kitten, the petshop smells as if it has never been cleaned. This pet shop should be closed down. I just worry that how many more animals in that pet shop are sick and malnurished and not being taken care of.

Signed a very annoyed animal lover!!!!!

I bought a puppy from Pete's Petland on 1/6/07. The puppy was constantly sick from the time we got it, he was in the vet more than we had him. At four months old, I had a labrador retriever which should have weighed approximately 40 pounds, but my dog was so sick he only weighed 14 pounds. Finally since the puppy kept relapsing and not getting better the vet decided to do exploratory surgery. Once they opened him up the found out that the puppy's stomach was deformed and his lungs were completely diseased. They determined that the puppy would never get better and at 4 months of age the puppy had to be put to sleep. I did end up getting my money back for the dog from the pet store, but only after putting up with the same rudeness I had dealt with since I notified them that the puppy was sick. How can you be rude to someone who's puppy (that you sold them) just died?? Even though I was reimbursed for the dog itself I am still out all of the vet bills, which are substantial. Since then I bought a new puppy from a reputable breeder, a HEALTHY puppy!!! Clearly, I should have just gone to a reputable breeder in the first place, but I learned the hard way and I will never buy an animal from a pet store again!!
