I called on Friday July 27th to rent a golf cart, they were VERY friendly over the phone. I arrived the same day to pick it up. Now I was attending a HUGE camping event that was only 3 days long and I paid a lot of money to get into this place. I advised D&J Golf Carts that the golfcart, MUST have WORKING head lights. They turned them on for about 5 seconds and then we went back to our destination (45mins away) It was daylight when we got there so all was fine, come evening time, I turned the headlights on, about 1min later, the golf cart bogged down and the head lights went out for good. This company is located at the owners home, so I called there. I didn't get an anwer the first few times, so I left a couple of messages and tried again a few mins later. The maid answered the phone (she told me she was cleaning the office) I explained my situation to her, asked if she could please contact someone that way if it was a simple fix, they could walk me through it. She told me that she couldn't as everyone leaves at 5pm and that once they are gone, there is no way to contact them. I had her take a hand written message and also told her that someone needed to call me first thing in the AM and that I needed someone to either A. come to where I was and fix the problem or b. bring me a golf cart that worked properly. She told me that there was "NO way either one of those options could be done and that she didn't even know if she could get the message to them, as she was leaving to go on a trip at 6am" The following day, I woke up at 7am D&J's opens at 8am, I waited for a phone call from someone and I didn't get it until 11am. I advised them that the lights had to be cut and "direct wired" and that the golf cart even before the lights went out would bog and still be turned on, but wouldn't go forward or backwards for about 15mins at a time. The man acted as though he wasn't concerned. On the 28th at night the cart stopped working for close to 4 hours, I once again called them and didn't get an answer, so I left another message, explaining that I or my husband wasn't very happy with the money we spent to rent the cart and it didn't even work propertly over half the time. And that when I returned it, I would be discussing my concerns with them. I STILL never heard anything back. On the 29th, when I returned the cart, I was ALONE, I rang doorbells, knocked and called and NOBODY was there or answering. I then had to unload the cart on my own. I hurt myself in the process by hitting my stomach/hip on their ramp which has left brusies all over me stomach and side area. I placed the key under the welcome mat, and took pictures to prove I had in fact left the cart there. Now I work in customer service and THIS is not a professional business, at least how they handle things are not professional. What kind of company doesn't have someone there to unload and to inspect their rentals? I'm 5'3'' and I weigh 115lbs, and I had to unload a cart on my own. Everyone that was with us was just as upset that a business such as this turned their backs and avoided us all together. NEVER EVER again will I rent from them and I will do what I need to do to prevent this from happening to others.
