Not a place for a guy to go if you're doing your own repair and need a couple small things done (press on ujoints/ball joints). First, they lost my number so didn't call with an estimate that I asked for. They went ahead and ordered parts and did repairs without it which put me over budget. I wouldn't have agreed with the repairs if I would have received the quote.

Took in a front axle and steering knuckles for u-joint replacement, press on ball joints, and install a new spindle bearing kit. 2 of the 3 things were done when I picked up the parts which was frustrating as one guy simply said sorry that we forgot and didn't do it. The item that was missed went with the other repairs BTW so I had to do it over again.

Overall not a bad place to go if you want them to do an entire repair based on other reviews. DIY people beware of taking your stuff to them. They will overcharge on labor and may lose your phone number.

Overall

I didn't want to use Jim's Drive Train...

My wife and I drove up from Utah to Boise - 350 miles overnight - for a medical emergency with our son. When we arrived at our hotel, the prop-shaft failed on our Subaru.

It was Sunday morning; nowhere open, so we had to wait until Monday.

Monday comes around, and we called the dealership. "A complete replacement", they said, "We can have the part here by Wednesday. It'll be fixed by Thursday".

I called Jim's, just because there was noone else I could find in town. He sourced the part, had it overnighted, and installed it by midday Tuesday. They even dropped me off and picked me up from my hotel. Fantastic customer service, great work, and excellent quality parts and prices. If I was nearer, I'd certainly use him again.
