I'm giving Kohryu 4 stars based on how it compares with other ramen places in SoCal. Let's not go off about how ramen around here doesn't compare with ramen in Japan...duh, really? I've lived in Japan and still go there often, and yes, ramen is really great out there. Now back to SoCal... I always get the Koi ramen at Kohryu. The broth is flavorful and rich with fresh green onions as well as Kohryu's signature fried onions. The hanjuku (half-boiled) egg is really good. The noodles are just the way I like 'em...not soft but al dente. The pork can be improved--sometimes it's chewy; other times it's tender. I also really like the geso (fried squid legs). Skip the gyoza if you like meat...it's filled with veggies only. Customer service here is usually fair but sometimes a miss. They usually greet customers as they walk in and thank them as they leave. We once got a waitress who served us one bowl of Koi ramen when we asked for four orders of Koi ramen. Strange that she didn't confirm the order at the beginning...did she really think that four people would order one bowl of ramen? Another time we had waited about 30 minutes before being seated. After ordering we waited another 20 minutes before they told us they were out of noodles. WTH? Anyway, it's the good food that keeps me coming here.
This is one of the few places in the OC that opens til midnight. The food is good, the prices are cheap, and the environment is ultra friendly. It…

China gourmet.. what can I say?? if ur looking for a good chinese food to take out and eat at ur place then this is the place to go.. love their walnut shrimp, mongolian beef, shrimp fried rice, beef brocolli, sweet and sour pork, etc etc.. u cant go wrong with any of those.. although i gave 4 stars instead of 5 because they can have better costumer service at times.. awesome food!!!
I just sat down at Cheng's China Kitchen and had myself a hot bowl of Phoenix served with chicken and shrimp with a splash of bean sprouts, I was amazed at the texture of the rice noodles just cooked right and the broth is to die for, I give this restaurant a 5 star,5 being the best.
My little sister LOVE the shrimps there~ She keeps insisting us to take her there. I never really have a chance to taste them because she ate them all. Usually she's reaaaally picky about food (Stupid kid)
large portions for cheap and a small little currency exchange store in the restaurant, weirdest thing ever
Great food & great service at reasonable prices. A nice relaxing restaurant for an enjoyable dinner.
While we appreciate any vegan restaurant, we thought the food could use a little more seasoning.
We used yellow pages and found this place and we love it. Bell pepper beef is the best!
