Wife and I had lunch special, pork lo mein w/pork f.r. pepper steak w/onions and p.f.r. lo mein and pepper steak were fine however the pork fried rice sucked. They use minute rice in the p.f.r. which is nothing more than little bits and pieces of broken grains of rice. No self respecting Chinese chef would use cheap crappy rice in their menu items. Chinese or Japanese rice dishes MUST be made with long grain or short grain sticky rice. This Chinese restaurant is not alone in the use of cheap, junk rice. Lived in the Far East for many years. ABQ Chinese food sucks for the most part.
They have meh chinses food. same recipes as Rose Garden, Heaven Dragon, and bunches more... they deliver with a listed min as $15 but god forbid if you order under $25. the lady that takes delivery orders gets pissy if you don't order a lot of food. She is rude and inconsiderate. She isn't selling amazing chinese food [such as the quality you could get at Ever Green before it burned down :( ] so she should just be happy to get orders. I refuse to purchase from them after how poorly i was treated.
I am thankful for fortuitously happening upon this Bistro! I had no idea it was in the Cottonwood Mall. It is a wonderful alternative to the Food Court. It is clean, bright, stylish, and has wonderful service. The prices are very fair, the portions are huge, the ingredients are quality. Food is presented quickly. Flavors are piquant, colors are brilliant. For mall food, this is, in my opinion, sensational. BTW it's my favorite restaurant in Albuquerque!
The service was fantastic. I ate the shrimp with garlic sauce and it was delicious. Everything arrived quickly and was the right temperature. The yp app had a coupon for 15% off, so I got my entree, an eggroll and a small bowl of soup for just over $11! The entree was large enough to take home and have for lunch tomorrow. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant. It's not authentic, by any means, but the food, service and value is fantastic!
We were enjoying the food. Then a guest complained to us that weren't cleaning up enough in the walkway infront of our table. The staff would not clean up and walked by any food in the walkway. They did not keep it clean. The other guest continued to be rude and blame us. The management allow this to continue. When we called to complain, they blamed us. They need to keep it clean and keep guest from ruining other guest's celebrations.
The food is good. You get a lot for your money but it's not cheap. It's always so fresh and hot though. The dining room is just one big room--not private at all, no booths. Kids are always running around in there. Better to take out, if you don't live too far. We love Sesame Chicken and Pork fried rice. Husband loves hot sour soup. I like won ton. Pot stickers are good but need better sauce and egg rolls could be better!
Wow! I have been eating at Chen's for 20+ years! I love to eat there any chance I get and I am especially fond of the spicy garlic shrimp w/ sweet & sour pork. Wonderful food at great prices and the portions are big, you won't go away hungry. The place is not much to look at but pretty clean so who cares! The service is usually pretty good and the prices are very reasonable. Great place and I will continue to eat there!
The dan tarts were a little darker yellow than I like, but taste great for being the only place that has them. The Hom Sui kwok thing was delicious considering I can only get them in California so far. The shrimp noodle thing was bad. I could smell the shrimp a mile a way. must have been bad. I ended up buying a chinese movie with subtitles there.
I had Pot Stickers that frankly looked and teasted like they had been frozen. Pork Noddle soup at Chips Stix is far superior. Wife had General Tao Beef and like it. Daughter's Tofu disk as fine as weel. Over I'd rate it a 3 until I've tried a few more dihes. Chip Stiks still rules for me.
We ate at P.F. Changs for the 1st time this past Sat. because a friend recommended it. The food was excellent and great service too. Nice place to eat and enjoy great food especially the lemon pepper shrimp. A bit pricey but worth it if you're not on a budget. I will definately go again!
