About Search Results

YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.

Great place to hang out

I've only been here for their weekly specials on crawfish and steaks and it's great! I see that other people have had a hard time getting in at certain times, especially on nights with specials. However, I've been going around 7-8pm on those nights and have no problems getting a table or finding parking. The service is nice, but a little slow at times. People are usually hanging out there and having a good time so it has a fun atmosphere. Crawfish nights are Sundays and Tuesdays at $3.75/lb, and steak nights are Wednesdays at $14 for a 1lb ribeye and fully loaded baked potato. The crawfish is a little overseasoned for my taste, because they cook it in the Cajun seasoning and then douse it with more seasoning after taking it out. I love eating hot foods and usually have no problems, but after eating two pounds of them, I looked like I had a cheap collagen injection and some kid smeared red crayola all over my lips. They do sell small, boiled red potatoes at 4/.75. They're completely bland, but taste like heaven when your lips are on fire. The ribeye is a GREAT deal for $14! They season it and grill it right out front so you can smell you're dinner being cooked (They actually do that with the crawfish as well.). When they bring the steak and potato out to you, they also bring out a huge tupperware container full of all the potato fixings you could ever want (chives, butter, sour cream, bacon bits, shredded cheese). The potato tasted kind of like it was a little old and the steak isn't the best grade, but they tenderized it enough that it was still very tender. Overall, everything was pretty tasty for the money. We're thinking about making Wednesday nights "bonding nights." :)

I had lunch there on a Friday afternoon, the prices, food, atomsphere, and service was o.k. However, the same Friday evening, I attended a dinner party. The food was o.k.. Several persons attending the dinner party was very, very, dissapointed with the food, service, and one large bill for the entire party. The waitress insisted on one bill for this large party which caused nothing but confusion. My credit card and another person's credit card where issued by the same agency. The waitress charged the bills on opposite cards, not once but twice which caused problems of double billing. I spoke with the manager on duty, which to him was no big problem. He never stated that he was "sorry for the inconvience", or "if there was anything that he could do to make the situation better. He simply said he would go over to the register to make sure the waitress didn't charge the cards for the third time." I explain what I felt on his behalf was "Poor Management skills", He then stated "well I have some pie here for you." The pie didn't and could never amount to excellent Management skills.

Opa Greek Tavern
Jim C. rated

A truly Greek culinary experience, complete with recorded Greek folk music! Our waitstaff person (Vicky) was quite attentive and equally paced the appetizers to entrees to dessert. No rush, no fuss... she's great. The food was phenomenal; began with their Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and Keftedes (homemade Greek meatballs)... wonderful but would ask for sour cream or Greek yogurt instead of their marinara side sauce...Then on to the entrée selection of Moussaka (referred to by many as Greek Lasagna)... equally well prepared and so very moist! We so prayed that we would (and did) have room for dessert- what else but Baklava (a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened (and held together) with honey, indescribably delicious). So, 1) Ask for Vicky, 2) Go hungry!, and 3) ENJOY! The only negative of this experience was they did not yet have their liquor license but by next month all will be just super. Hoping they will carry authentic Greek wines.

Restaurant or Bar

I had lunch here and the atmosphere was very nice. It is a very nicely decorated place. It has more of a bar, club, hangout, etc. atmosphere to me, than it does a restaurant feel. I believe it will be known more for a bar than a restaurant. I may not come here if I'm really hungry. The lunch menu is very limited. We asked to see the dinner menu and it was, too. The food was OK. Honestly, I was not impressed, but this was just their first week of being open and hopefully it will get better IF that's their focus for the place. If not, like I said, it's looks like a great place to just hangout. The manager was also very nice and wanted to know what our opinion was, which was a good sign that they want to please the customer and are looking for improvement and/or suggestions on service. I will go back! They have live bands and singers, a cigar room plus a Sunday Brunch that I need to try!

I have been through a lot of sushi restaurant in Houston. So far, Iron Chef is the best. I work out in Gold's Gym every week. The guys in the gym keep telling me to give it a try. First time went in was 2 months ago, and It was surprisely awesome!!!!! The way he prepares everything makes sushi much more enjoyable. From rice, seaweed Nori to sushi, special rolls, you can feel the chef put a lot of thought into the food. Absolutely outstanding!!!!! I was surprise that this little place has such great quality. The servicer told me that the chef came from Manhattan, New York, and since he took over the place (it is a new management), he bought in the New York style sushi. Wow, absolutely delicious!!! So glad they are next door to the gym. Another good excuse to have sushi weekly....

Why couldn't that GHB been for me??? Can't wait for crawfish season: Thursday night. Ignore the bad reviews on this pub. They have a good staff and professional clientele. It gets slow during the day (which is a good sign of the economy) and other than the regular annoying used car salesman running his mouth at the end of the bar, trying to impress the ladies. Never seen a pill pusher in the place, then again we always leave with the bands show up. Stripper's Lie was cool in the late 80's, now it's pretty stupid. They have a Monday night buffet at 5PM with taco meat, chips and dip, carrots, and actual food. Drinks are inexpensive and the atmosphere is good.

Griff's is one of the best Sport's bars around! In fact, it's the only one we go to now to watch college football. Great food, great bartenders, lots of TV's and a great front porch. Lot's of local old timers and regulars as well as the younger partiers. Always a fun late nite crowd with lots of dancing to a great DJ on Fridays and Saturdays. Plus, don't forget they have the BEST St. Patrick's Day party in all of Houston! Party events start a week in advance w/special events every day up until the actual St. Paddy's day. Word of advice though, take a cab since everyone in Houston will be there and you'll have way toooo much fun to drive home!!!

RIPCORD
Ripcord B. rated

RIPCORD is a friendly gay bar with a very laid back atmosphere. There's a spirit of acceptance for all shades of gay from leather to lesbians, twinks to tranny's and everything in between. RIPCORD is the most diverse gay crowd by hosting a wide range of events from Sunday Show Tunes, Art Shows, Geeks Who Drink and theme parties.... The bottom line is RIPCORD is everything gay. RIPCORD also has the biggest outdoor patio of all the gay bars in the Montrose, pool tables and darts. TV's have videos and regular shows during the week. An unassuming facade with a very welcoming interior. "Bring a friend. Talk to strangers."

Same crowd, same fat British guy from the efficiency apartments, same dried-up cancerous bar tender, same convicts, same Mount Marley, same Strange Brew, same dart games, same chubby chasers, same everything. But those Big A beers for $3.00 hit the old Spatten. This is not a classy joint,; but they did re-do the bathrooms a few years back. Saw a chick wet her pants, and another light matches on her silicone jobs for all to see. Can see the drug dealers at Food Town the next day shopping with their grandma. Get lost in the Time Machine, be a faithful patron. Don't get too crazy, you too might climb Mt. Marley...
