I stayed at the Ambassador July 21, 2012 with four other girls for my bachelorette party. I was skeptical at first because I knew it was brand new and there were no reviews online of it when we booked reservations. However, we thought the location right by Power and Light couldn't be beat so we took a chance. I cannot even believe I thought twice about it. As soon as we walked in I was blown away. This place is beautiful! I was a little confused when we walked in and didn't see a front desk right away; I thought maybe we had gone in the wrong door. After we walked a few steps though, the desk was just to the right. They checked us in and were so nice and polite to us even though we were kind of complete messes from being at Oceans of Fun all day. They asked us if we had plans for dinner and when we named the place we wanted to eat at, they immediately offered to make reservations for us (which was very helpful). They said the bar, which looked pretty nice, would be open all night which we were excited about but unfortunately didn't get to try (Power and Light all night instead). When we got to our rooms, every one of us were floored by how awesome they were. The colors, the furniture, the fabulous robes, the shower that could be it's own room, the light up mirrors, the little seat you can sit on when you do your hair, the Keurigs, the iPod stations, the wardrobe closet, the enormous amount of space...we felt like we were royalty. Granted, for girls in their early twenties we haven't seen a lot of fancy hotel rooms, but this certainly set a pretty high standard. We were actually the first people to ever use our rooms, which was pretty cool. The drain on my sink wasn't connected to the sink (by-product of everything being brand new), and when I called to tell them, they had someone come upstairs at as soon as we needed to fix it. Very professional, courteous, and helpful. Their parking lot could use a sign; we called to ask if they had one and they said it was around back, and it would be $15 per night to park there. As it was the weekend, we parked at a meter across the street for free instead. Again, this location can't be beat. We all agreed if we ever stay in Kansas City again, we have to stay at the Ambassador. We got two rooms with a king size bed in each for $179 each; if we had known how big the rooms were we could have easily put all five of us in one room. Having two bathrooms was nice though : ) Still an amazing value for such a fantastic hotel in downtown Kansas City. Congratulations to them on opening such a beautiful hotel this summer!

I had a reservation for 2 nights. First night--the first room the heater did not work, 2nd room I could not order movies because the tv did not work right and the bathroom had ants all over it and the sink while I was washing my face, there was dirt and grime coming out from the grouting. I even called the manager up to my room to see and I also took pictures. It was to late to change rooms at that time because I had to go to work early. 2nd night-had to change rooms again and the maid had to change the sheets on the bed because there was no mattress pad and the sheets were coming off the bed. I ended up staying in that room because I was so tired of the mess. 1 week after staying at that hotel, I cam down with the flu and thn pnemonia. The Doctor told me I should not have gotten the flu strain that I did since I did have a flu shot. I did receive a free hotel stay but it has to be at that hotel. Have not made up my mind yet Sincerely, Beware!!!
I FREQUENTLY VISIT KANSAS CITY FOR BUSINESS, AS WELL AS PLEASURE. I HAVE STAYED @ MANY HOTELS IN KANSAS CITY & I MUST SAY THAT THE HOLIDAY INN ON THE COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA HAS BEEN THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF THEM ALL. THE EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABOVE & BEYOND ANY 5 STAR HOTEL I HAVE STAYED @ AROUND THE U.S. THE AMENITIES ARE GREAT. THE ROOMS ARE VERY REASONABLE. IT IS LOCATED IN A GREAT AREA THAT IS ONLY MINUTES (WALK) TO THE MOST POPULAR SHOPPING & DINING AREA IN THE CITY. UPON MY CHECKING IN TO THE HOTEL, GINA & TRACY WERE VERY HELPFUL & POLITE. THEY INSISTED THAT IF I NEEDED ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE WITH ANYTHING, TO JUST LET THEM KNOW. I SINCERELY APPRECIATE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE & WILL BE STAYING WITH THEM EVERY TIME I ARRIVE IN KCMO. THANKS FOR A GREAT STAY......NICOLE C.
They are the slowest hotel possible. Building is old. Was put in a room by the elevator Sunday night. Talked to them everyday about the elevator grinding keeping me up all night, the bathtub was barely draining and would fill like a bath, and made service didn't clean 2 nights and came at 7pm to clean the last night. I am a rewards member and I spend ALOT of time in hotels for work. But this one was the worst. They moved me to a room thursday night that had a metal cover that was covering the ac unit and it was vibrating against the wall so just stayed in my room. The gym had dirty towels stacked high and no clean ones. Asked front desk for towels. She said they would bring them down. An hour 20 minutes later they still hadn't showed up so I just went up and showered.
i just got back from North Kansas City and we had a great experience at La Quinta...I spoke with people watching the game at night in the lobby lounge and at breakfast and nobody had any complaints. You can tell they poured some money into the place. Everything was freshly painted inside and out. Room/building was spotless, wi fi worked flawlessly, staff was very friendly and went above and beyond the call of duty. They take pets. I would definately stay there again and HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL!!!!! They could charge more and easily get away with it.
I had doubts but I was impressed from the time we entered the lobby, very clean, awesome customer service, the staff was amazingly friendly. We stayed in the jacuzzi suite, which was immaculate vs the room at Holiday Inn we stayed in the night before...even the public areas such as the lobby, laundry room, indoor pool & hall was clean...definitely will stay here next time I'm in KC
I found this hotel to be just great! From the Desk Clerks to the comfy beds. Check in was fast, it was close to where I needed to be downtown, The rooms were huge, and they have a lounge in the hotel with the most amazing nachos I have ever had. I have no complaints what so ever. I will be returning to this hotel again.
I went here a couple weeks ago for a competition I was in, and it was less than fantastic. Everything seemed to be having issues, from the room keys to the a.c. It was a little ridiculous. Now being inside of a mall definitely had its perks, but that was pretty much it.
This is our second stay here... they are currently under remodeling... The staff is exceptionally helpful in all regards...The restaurant iz slightly expensive... but its close to all main highways... Will stay again... Hopefully remodeling will be completed...
