We have been regular customers at Leo's Chow Mein for years. The food is great and the prices are affordable. We've been telling people to give Leo's the business. However, a recent poor customer service experience has left us with a sour taste in our mouth and we are wondering if we ever want to go back. During the lunch buffet these days, there is a waitress that is a middle aged Asian woman who is rude and delivers horrible customer service. We were at Leo's for the lunch buffet when it opened and even when she came around the first time with cabbage, she completely skipped our booth, going to another table near us then to the other side of the dining area. We had to flag her down to come back to our table. After this, she skipped our table again multiple times with no explanation as to why. She did not bring us food, she did not ask us if we wanted water refills when she brought water around, nothing. Now, We are people that are respectful. We say "Please, thank you, no thank you." when eating the buffet at Leo's. We are not the type of people who are rude and offend others. I don't believe we did anything to offend this waitress during our time there. Yes, this waitress was very rude and disrespectful to us. With her attitude, she has the potential to make your dining experience at Leo's your last one with how she is. We did talk to Evelyn, the owner, about the situation who said she would talk to this employee about the matter but we'll see if that accomplishes anything. Leo's Chow Mein needs to hire employees that know how to provide quality customer service otherwise, they are destined to FAIL in St. Paul. In this day and age, there are many Chinese restuarants as well, and if one is not liked, people will seek out others.
Went there with my family a few weeks ago as my sister-in-law loves going there every time she comes to the cities. We had 2 tables combined with a total of 18 people as a family get-together like we would at any other restaurant. We decided to order one of their specials that feeds 10 people and then ordered our own separate dishes since the dishes are served in a good amount of food. The dishes were served quickly with atleast 4-5 servers bringing out the food however, half way through, the servers stopped telling us which dish was which and if it was part of the special or not. We got confused but continued to eat as the restaurant started getting busy. That was when the waitresses started ignoring us; perhaps they were expecting us to leave since the place was picking up and then the servers started speed walking, going around like (or what seemed like) chickens with their heads cut off. My brother ordered an oyster dish but didn't receive it so we had to ask for it again and then ended up waiting 25 minutes when everything else we had was already done. Needless to say, the food was ok. The service was poor. Probably should've went to the buffet line but the buffet line was empty and I heard it wasn't as good as the food served fresh. Either way, paying $300 for food that wasn't that great and half assed customer service isn't worth it. We, or "I" won't be going there again. Next time, we'll just spend $300 on groceries and have our own buffet at home.
If you're expecting to grab a plate, stand in line at the buffet, and pick and choose your favorite "Chinese" dish, think again. This is a family-style restaurant sporting food of quite a different flavor than every other Asian restaurant I have had the pleasure to dine in. You will sit, and the food will be brought to you. Think fogo without the loss of $50 from your wallet. The staff is amazingly accommodating and you will find yourself having a hard time saying no to a second or third helping of pork chops or sweet and sour chicken! This place screams small town diner. The ambiance is quite nominalistic, but in the end, isn't it the food and service that keep people coming back? Bring your friends and enjoy yourselves as you need not worry over a menu or constantly getting up to refill your plate.
The service is great, even with just two waitresses, who know us well. I stopped at the sixth chamber bookstore first, while my husband went in. My coke was brought out without him ordering it. I got my usual, garlic chicken. I have never seen anything like this on other menus. It's loaded with onions, shredded carrots, bamboo shoots, sliced chicken, and what seems to be jarred garlic, gently tossed in a light sauce. It's not a saucy dish. I love it so much I don't add rice. I only eat a few onions, and they are so tasty that I take them home to use in other dishes. My husband got his usual, kung pao shrimp, always good. One note, they have some of the best egg foo young, served in a delicious gravy.
I went to this place because it was rated so highly, and was close to where I needed to be. While it does have good prices, and large portions, almost all the food was breaded and deep fried. There is limited choice of stuff which is not breaded, and I chose something which usually comes unbreaded at other restaurants, but it was breaded. The pieces of breaded chicken were small, which hid the fact that it was mostly breading. Service was slow to have an order taken, although things seem to happen faster for regular customers. I now have a gut ache.
This is seriously the best Chinese take-out place in the cities. Great quality and quantity for the price. The owners are super friendly and it's always a great idea to eat here. I've actually recommended this place to so many friends that I once walked in to order and spotted two friends in line in front of me! The only thing is that they don't have noodles on their menu that I am aware of. But what is a tiny flaw like that when compared to awesome food, pricing, and service? HIGHLY recommend you check it out. Like now. No, I really mean it.
This is the only place to order good fast Chinese in the area. We tend to order the same things most the time but when we have tried other items they never fail. Shrimp Toast, small simple fried goodness!! Customer service is good, sometimes there is a slight language issue but I expect that when I call anywhere for Chinese. This place is great and price is good. I have never had a mis-meal here and highly recommend this place for fast good delivery. Dine is is also great.
So I found this place while I was attending century college in 2004 and my friends and I can't get enough of pagoda. The food is always amazing and so fast and to top it off the service is always friendly and prompt. The real star of the show is the chef and owner. His willingness to cook outside the box and make you something thats not on the menu there is one dish that is out of site and what I tend to order it's called SIZZLING RICE whats in it is shrimp, beef, and chicken
Five stars for what this place does well.I have never had better peking duck than what I have been served here. It is available in one, two, or the full three courses. They have other food here as well apart from the usual American popular Chinese "junk food." They are kings of the bamboo steamer. If you come in here and have some dumplings, pork bao, and the duck with a couple of friends, you'll see why I gave them five stars.
Ii enjoyed the food, very much. I found the decor,to be both cozy, and welcoming. The service was attentive, and the prices competitive. This would be an ideal place to take your date,on a Friday or Saturday night. I ordered the sweet&sour chicken, it was very tasty! There were good chunks of pineapple, tomatoes, and bell peppers, with chicken, in a sweet/sour sauce. It even came with white rice. A very solid meal!
