So I want to begin this post by saying that my family has been coming to this theatre since the day it has opened, and normally I would never go to a theatre other than this one... until now. I applied and was interviewed at this location, which to me, was exciting. Sure, it was a minimum wage job with horrible hours that no one else wanted, but I did. It was my dream to work at a movie theatre. After about two weeks of driving to and from Tampa (1 hour away) in efforts to get my employment verification from my former jobs, I thought things were looking up. Finally, I had all of the papers filled out, only to be turned down. Why, you ask? Because one of my references' (a 33 year old successful nurse and mother) knew some of my family. So, all of my hard work and experience that surpassed anything worthy of this theater was turned down. So trust me when I say that not me, my family, nor any of my friends will EVER step foot inside of this theatre again. Thank you and have a nice day.
Theater has improved a lot though I cannot address management problems. Lounge chairs throughout, lots of room, fair ticket prices, though strangely a small popcorn costed me more than one adult ticket. Think I got a senior break in all fairness but the popcorn was 11 bucks! One last gripe: this is by far the closest and most convenient theater to me but when I check out the new movies that appeal to me and get good reviews from various critics, I invariably don't find them here at Oakmont. Granted it is only an 8 movie theater but why always filled with the most violent and/or stupid? Think I can answer that myself: cause those are the ones that will fill the seats. Much better selection at Carmike 20 clear across town, but then they have the room.
