Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride is a mineral that occurs naturally in many foods and water. Minerals are added to and lost from a tooth's enamel layer every time we eat and drink through the process of demineralization and remineralization. Demineralization occurs when acids formed by plaque bacteria and sugars break down the tooth's enamel. Remineralization occurs when the minerals such as fluoride, calcium, and phosphate in the foods and drinks we consume redeposit into the enamel layer of the tooth. Too much demineralization with not enough remineralization causes decay (" cavities "). Fluoride helps to protect teeth by making them more resistant to the acids that cause tooth decay. In addition, fluoride treatments can sometimes reverse early tooth decay that has not yet broken through the enamel layer and decrease sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are safe, effective, painless, long lasting, cost effective and they play an important role in helping to prevent tooth decay (" cavities "). Sealants are a plastic coating bonded into the grooves of the back teeth. After the sealant is placed, the tooth becomes very smooth and is less likely to trap food and plaque and becomes much easier to clean with your toothbrush. The enamel of a young permanent tooth is still maturing for 3 years after it erupts, making the tooth very susceptible to decay, therefore sealants are especially recommended for children who have their permanent molars to protect the adult teeth from decay and fillings that essentially weaken the overall tooth structure.

Fillings
Over the years, when it comes to amalgam fillings, we have seen more harm than good. Amalgam is a blend of copper, silver, tin and zinc, bound by elemental mercury. There are health concerns due to the mercury content, the exposure to the vapor and minute particles from the mercury are believed to cause a variety of health problems. In addition, since these filling are metal, they expand and contract with temperature change. When you drink something cold, the metal shrinks, allowing bacteria to flow down in between the filling and tooth, causing decay, and when you drink something hot it expands, putting excess stress on the tooth causing cracking and breaking of the tooth structure. In our practice, we use composite "white" filling, which actually bond to and become part of the tooth.
Veneers
Veneers are thin slices of porcelain bonded only to the front of the teeth. They are generally used for cosmetic reasons such as, to cover gaps, reshape mal-positioned, crowded or chipped teeth, or to whiten stained teeth.
Crowns
A crown, also referred to as a cap, is a tooth-shaped cover placed over a tooth to provide strength to a tooth that is badly damaged or decayed. We prepare the tooth for a crown by reducing the tooth on all sides by about 1 -1 1/2 mm, just enough room for the crown to fit on top of the tooth and be uniform with the rest. We then take an impression of the prepared tooth and send it to a lab to make the permanent crown. The patient goes home with a temporary crown made of acrylic material. The patient returns in approximately 3 weeks for insertion of the permanent crown.

Partial dentures are used in cases where only some of the teeth are missing, whereas complete dentures are used when replacing all teeth on a single arch.

Clear Correct, also referred to as "clear" or "invisible" braces, is a series of clear, hard plastic trays that you wear for 2 weeks at a time, as you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, with each tray - until they have straightened to the final position. Each set of trays, move the teeth about 0.25 millimeters. The trays are to be worn 24 hours a day only to be removed to eat, drink, brush, and floss. The total treatment time averages form 9 to 15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.
