- Award-winning chef/owner Dino Grossi and his family opened Volare Ristorante in the Fall of 2004. Located in the heart of the new downtown Wixom city center, this restaurant features a dramatic interior rich in texture and color. The service was unfriendly. The place was closing at 11pm and we got there a few minutes after 10pm. The hostess wouldn't even come to the front to sit us and the wait staff ran over to say the cook was done for the night. Finally the manager came over and told them to seat us. It was way OVER priced. It's not kid friendly at all. There's not a kids menu. I had in 8 and 10 year old and an adult meal is to much food for them so they split and they charge $5 to split it. Your not allowed to split without the charge even though there is no kids menu. If you celebrate a holiday or birthday and bring a cake they charge you a $2 per person slice charge on your own cake. Drinks were slow to be refilled. The place never has anyone there and now we know why. I would suggest going to Novi for Italian not here.
We spent two hours at this restaurant for what ended up being just a two course meal - there were long gaps between everything. Our server didn't seem to have much knowledge of the food, or show much interest in serving us, which is why we ended up not ordering more drinks, appetizers or dessert. My food had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time, since by the time I got it it was a greasy congealed mess. My partner got a seafood pasta that was so spicy she couldn't even taste the other ingredients. We probably would have both sent our food back if our server had bothered to come by to check on us. This seemed to be a common theme amongst the waitstaff though, as the table next to us had a different server and also endured long wait times between courses and food that overcooked - perhaps because of sitting under a heat lamp for 1/2 hour? Although they offer a complimentary valet service, we opted not to use it, and were told then that we had to park in the back of the lot. Apparently it's more important for the valet not to have to walk as far as the customers. The most positive thing I can say about it is that at least the place appeared clean, (although it was kind of hard to tell with how dark it was) and the prices were reasonable, although on a higher end of the scale. My overall impression was that no matter how hard they're trying to appear high class, it just came across as pretentious. We won't be going back, and won't recommend.

We had heard about this restaurant from a couple that live in the 'new' Wixom. It was excellent. My wife had a Seafood Linguine that had Lobster tail, Shrimp, Oysters, etc. with a great spicy sauce. I had Veal shank on saffron risoto. The service was wonderful, attentive, but not bothersome. I had seen it very busy on the weekends, so we went Monday at 5:00. A varied menu with some pricy entrees', but worth every cent. We are excited to go back and try our next choice from the menu. The decor is grand. 4 Star. $$$
