The UPS Store

If you can't be honest in small things... OK, I was going to let this go because the amount of money involved is inconsequential. But the principle is bothering me so here I am. I went to this UPS store to have a legal document notarized, then I was going to send it certified mail. I used to be the manager responsible for all catalogue and on-line sales for Old Salem. I've shipped 900 parcels in a day. But the store owner didn't know that. He told me he could "save me some money" by sending my legal document ground UPS. He told me certified mail would be more expensive. I had other things to do and I just didn't care about dickering. The document was in a pre-addressed standard-sized envelop. He placed the envelope in a manilla 9" x 12" and charged me $8.60 for ground and $0.89 for the envelope. Certified mail would have cost $4.26 (and arrived one day earlier). For the price of a sandwich I kept my mouth shut, but it bothers me that a store owner would lie to a customer.
