General Info
In 2005, the City of Wimberley embarked on a mission to save the Blue Hole from the threat of residential development. After an unprecedented fundraising effort, the land was purchased by the City for use as a community park. The City of Wimberley has since developed the 126-acre park for the enjoyment of residents, visitors, and future generations. It includes much needed recreational facilities for our growing community and showcases a true gem in the Texas Hill Country. The park includes approximately 4.5 miles of trails, picnic areas, a community pavilion, playscape, basketball court, sand volleyball court, amphitheater, and the Blue Hole Swimming Area. The entire park is open to visitors within the regular operating hours, however, swimming is only allowed during the designated swimming season. The park balances the needs of the community while preserving and restoring the historic Blue Hole and surrounding ecosystems. In 2005, the City of Wimberley embarked on a mission to save the Blue Hole from the threat of residential development.
