Highsmith Animal Hospital

A friend of mine was a vet tech at the emergency clinic and knows most of the vets in the area, and he recommended Highsmith. I have had great experiences there with my dog, and my wife switched to them and has saved money with her cat over where she used to go. They are both professional and truly care about your pets.

Long wait (30 minute wait even though it didn't appear to be busy and I had an appointment). Vet was very rough with my dog (even claimed she has a bad habit of accidentally making dogs bleed!!). My dog has NEVER (even after a surgery at another vet) sat by the door wanting to leave. They also charged $50 in administration fees (receptionist even admitted they only charge one of the fees when you don't get an exam and I pointed out we did get an exam and she just said, oh you still have to pay it! That doesn't make sense)!!!! And to top it off they forgot to give me the prescription for heartworm medicine THE WHOLE REASON I WENT THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I recommend you find another vet, it will probably be less expensive and they will do a better job.

This place is great! I just moved to Wilmington 2 weeks ago and didn't have a vet. They were able to see my sick dog same day as a new patient. Every single person truly loves animals. Every tech who walked bye greeted and pet my dog. I felt very welcome and their prices are completely fair. I'm so glad I was able to find such a great vet so quickly.
