Family Air visited our home in Elgin (an hour's drive each way from Tucson) to assess our replacement system needs. They suggested a change in how we heat our home, because a heat pump does not work well at times where we live (we have very cold mornings). The new system they spec'd is called a gas pack, which combines an AC compressor with a propane furnace, in one box outside. They bid both a new system, and one they had "out back" at their business, a refurbished model with most of the warranty remaining on it. Both prices we received from Family were the lowest, compared to other companies we had come out. I would note as an aside, the Costco bid was very high, and I would suggest not wasting your time asking Costco's contractor to bid your system. We selected the refurbished system for $3800. With it we received 2 years free maintenance visits (twice per year), 8 years compressor warranty, 5 years all other parts warranty, and 2 years labor. The installation went well, except there were issues with the AC compressor. The installers could not fix the issues, so a tech came out about a week later to diagnose and repair the problem. It turned out not to be a part or anything with the system itself, but rather, a (probably pre-existing) issue with the wiring under our house, between the thermostat and the system. The tech figured it out, crawled under our manufactured home, found the problem, and restrung or replaced the entire wire run at no extra charge to us. I feel this was "above and beyond" and indicates Family's excellence in knowledge and service. I later went under the house myself (for other reasons), and found the problem they found (a wire squeezed by the home metal frame, causing a short, the wire not being movable, so it was not repairable). In my opinion, this was not an easy problem to find, so I am very impressed that the tech located it and knew what to do to fix it. Our system is working properly, no issues with the heat. Have not used the AC but have turned it on and it is cooling. I would like to also single out Kurt Astorga for his excellent customer service in bidding the job and then scheduling it. I also want to thank the company owner for his willingness to help us find an affordable alternative to a new system. By selling us a "like new" unit, we were able to get a good system for less money, while at the same time helping them get a system sitting "out back" in their lot out of their way. Win win. I would definitely recommend Family Air. I originally heard of them from my realtor Sonoita Realty Kathy O'Brien, so Family has good word of mouth around here.

February 26, 2011 For Ben, Dean, Andrew, Ma and Gramps, In order of your appearance on the scene: Andrew, on our first call to Trusted, seemed to know exactly what he was talking about and had all the answers to our questions. “We’ll see,” we said to each other after he left. Ben arrived at our home a few days later, sized up our heating and cooling situation, made recommendations for size, location and brand of unit, then went into detail of what Trusted offered in the way of installation, service, warranties and guarantees. We would get it all in writing. In the meantime, we talked with two other companies, neither of which was able to go into the depth of answers we sought. The road to Trusted seemed clear. Two days later, Andrew arrived at our home to complete a purchase order and let us know exactly what would happen and in what order, along with additional information about a new humidifier and anti-surge electrical system, both of which made perfect sense for our situation. It was easy to sign the purchase order and write a check for the deposit. On the coldest day in recent Tucson history, Dean arrived early in the morning hauling the Unit on a trailer behind his truck. A few minutes later, Ben arrived, and the two unloaded the Unit on our patio and began “installing.” At mid-morning, a third truck arrived hauling a trailer with a near-complete sheet-metal shop attached. In the cab were Gramps, the family Patriarch, and Ma, the Grande Dame of the family and Gramps’ helper at the portable sheet metal shop. Talk about master craftsmen and artists at work! What a Team! What precision! What expertise! We had heat, a picture-perfect installation, a clean patio before sundown that day, and one more service call by Dean to install a humidifier a few days later after a water filter system was installed. We are 100% satisfied… and grateful for companies and people like those at Trusted. Thank you, one and all, David and Linda Morrill

It was a great pleasure seeking help from Advantage Air Mechanical . They where very prompt, courteous, friendly and highly skillful in diagnosing my HVAC problem. My fairly new (lil over 5 years) central AC unit was shutting down on its own without cooling the house after running for few minutes in scorching AZ heat. I am a engineer and handy myself and tried to tackle the problem on my own. I ran all sort of diagnostics and tests but could not nail the issue. Frustrated, I called some service companies to come out and check my unit. The company that originally installed it told me that it was a bad expansion valve, and they would charge me $800 to fix it, Tech from another company told me it was a bad compressor and since the unit was out of warranty it would cost me $1500 to replace the compressor, I decided to get a third opinion so I called another company, the tech from that company told me that my unit was just a poor unit, and the problem could be with anything, suggesting I purchase a new unit. Needless to say the results of my own tests and diagnosis did not convince me that the issue was either the compressor, expansion valve or just it being a poor unit. I kept searching forums online for a possible cause of the problem which lead me to thermal medic website. I contacted Advantage Air Mechanical and he replied immediately diagnosing my problem to a bad condensor motor. He was right on spot. The motor had a bad bearing causing it to run really hot and shutdown the AC due to thermal protection. I replaced the motor for $150 and voila the AC is back to as good as new. I am glad I contacted Advantage Air Mechanical and not fall for replacing parts or the unit unnecessarily. He helped me diagnose and fix the issue via email. Awesome work!!!
