The Luzerne County Sheriff s Department works to provide security and protection solutions for court related functions and county facilities. The department is responsible for arresting the violators of the law and fugitives. It works to assist in special law-enforcement efforts, saturations patrols and community events. The Luzerne County Sheriff s Department is also responsible for transporting prisoners to and from county, state and federal institutions for court appearances.
