Computed Tomography
CT scan is basically an x-ray tube that rotates in a circle around the patient and takes a series of pictures as it rotates. The multiple x-ray pictures are reconstructed by a computer in axial slice images at different levels. Each level can be examined separately.

Kansas Surgical Consultants proudly offers robotic surgery through Wesley Medical Center, the first and only hospital in south-central Kansas and second hospital in the state to offer the most advanced da Vinci Surgical System, da Vinci Xi. Wesley has performed more than 5,000 da Vinci surgeries and currently has two Si and two Xi da Vinci systems, providing a wide range of robotic surgery options. Kansas Surgical Consultants also offers robotic surgery through Ascension Via Christi Hospitals.
Laparoscopy
Da Vinci helps the surgeons at Kansas Surgical Consultants to perform some surgeries laparoscopically that otherwise would need a more invasive approach such as opening the abdomen. Laparoscopy is performed by inserting small instruments with cameras through small openings in the body. Smaller incisions mean fewer wound complications and less postoperative pain for our patients.

In addition, women may decide to have breast reconstruction the same time they have breast cancer surgery, either mastectomy or lumpectomy. In that situation, we coordinate the procedure with a plastic surgeon to help avoid an additional surgery.
