Editorial review from Citysearch

John has done a great job re-opening since the tornado shut him down.
What a guy--his usually long hair is gone he had it cut for ""Locks of Love"".

""Dinner and a show"". . . Last Friday night John and his helper had the place rockin' he even enticed an Air Force major performing ""Spongebob Squarepants!

The best catfish bites anywhere. Homemade onion ringss yummmmm.

Great catfish

Quaint seafood shop, great variety, friendly service. Been dining here for over 3 years, best catfish in town. John does a great job with the customers and has a couple of attentive helpers.

Great Seafood!

Apparently this is a new owner - so the previous reviews aren't fair to this current owner. I had heard from several that this was the place to go for catfish. I ordered a catfish sandwich special on Thursday for $4.99 and WOW what a sandwich. I could have easily split it! Came out very hot and steaming. Good sauce. Yummy fries. I would highly recommend it!

Seafood, Bad service, Bad customer service, Rude employees, Dirty, Filthy, Bad hygeine

I don't get much seafood (I live with a meat n' potatoes family), so my fiance and I opted to stop by for a guilty-pleasure excursion.

The atmosphere was initially pleasant; quiet dining, clean tables, and pirate-themed decor lightly peppered on the walls. Only the kitchen looked filthy, which suprised me; I've worked at several restaurants, and it's not hard to keep such a tiny kitchen at least *marginally* clean! There were dried liquids on the kitchen floor, along with crumbs, dirt, and smudges on the floor, walls, and ceiling. There is no door on the kitchen, so I heard obnoxious, family unfriendly banter between the workers, and I saw them *playing* with the food they were preparing by tossing it at each other!

The food was average, though there was a bit of variety on the menu.

What I cannot abide is the rudeness of the employees. I brought my fiance along - he didn't like seafood, but we ordered take-out on the way to some errands - and our server was obnoxiously rude. He called my fiance something inappropriate (Citysearch is blocking the word, it's not a curse word) for not eating in his restaurant! We were just sitting there, talking about what errands we were going to run. My fiance politely declined a menu, saying ""Seafood isn't my cup of tea,"" to which the server responded by insulting him!

I do not know if that man was having a bad day, but there is no excuse to say such things to complete strangers. Whatever the case, I am not returning again, and I am going to tell everyone I meet *never* to eat there, because the workers are snotty and rude, and the kitchen is dirty; which equals questionable hygeine.

Excellent Food and Value for the price.

Ray has done a great job with this restaurant. He offers great food at reasonable prices. Stop by and give it a try. You can call ahead your order and it will be ready.
